If you don't think it's a good idea for a car, why is it such an excellent idea for a tractor?
probably because in a car you are inside a saftey cage and if the car is stopped, it (generally) wont go anywhere. whereas with a tractor you could fall off and drop onto a PTO or in front of a mower, etc... thus there are more chances for injury and a lawsuit, ergo: seat pressure switch on tractors

My bx24 will have them removed (jumped) today...I dislike them...IF they where so good, why did my old bx22 not have anything??? Which I liked!

It is like seat belts, all my old tractors never had them...To me, it is for legal reasons now and nothing else...YMMV

I don't know about the seatbelts, Frank. I use mine on the tractor all the time. They are especially useful when you hit a hole and bounce around, keeping you secured in the seat. They really do add quite a bit of security while sitting in your perch. I keep the arms up on the seat up for added flexibility...turning around and looking back, so it's better to have them on.

All I am saying is that for years, lots, there was no ROPS, no belts, no switches and I guess the world was very bad.

I use my belt a few times a year to make me "feel better".

My 2 switches on my BX24 are now gone...It feels like my Bx22 now but with more power...bout time!

My opinion.
Seat belts and roll bars are a good thing and I do use the seat belt.
I hate seat switchs and WILL DISABLE them if they came on my tractor.

I'll always wear my seat belt. That thing is just too slick when on a hill. Sometimes that was the only thing that kept me in my seat. I once thought I was doing my mother a favor one day when I Amrour Alled her leather seats. She got in one door...and fell out the other. From this day, I don't even clean a vynl or leather seat!

And even though I hope I never use the ROPS for anything other than climbing around on my tractor, I sure hope they work when I do roll it. (I figure it'll happen one day!:( )

Some of the safty features that are on these tractors are great things, but some can be a pain. Just with everything else, some are good and some aren't.

Now seatbelts are a different matter. Lots of data that shows actual benefits for tractors with ROPS or FOPS. You need to stay in the protected zone to stay - uh, well - protected.

BUT!!! If you don't have a ROPS or FOPS, there is data that you should NOT wear seat belts as you want to get the heck away from that rolling beast!

Think I'm making this up? (could be - you never know... ;)) Check the John Deere gator with no ROPS, it has no seat belts. Check the Kawasaki Mule with full roll structure, it has seat belts. And, yes, even I do wear them.

While tractors are dangerous, cars kill about 50,000 a year (and severely injure 200,000) and have for over 60 years. I'd rather be plowing....
