HaHaHa..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It always amuses me to see what people get their panties in a wad over..... If I go to a friends house and they ask me to remove my shoes before walking on their carpet, I do it... Similar to me is the idea of a store requiring you to show a reciept at the door. Does it really slow me down or impose on me? Not really. It s their way of attempting to slow shoplifting, wether you did or not....

So, again off topic, do you get upset about being searched at the airport? I believe in racial profiling myself, but if they need to offend everyone equally, so be it. they are doing what they have to do. Who cares.......

As for the reall reason for this post...... The idea behind covering the game is primarilly for the anti hunters. Similar to how some would feel about cussing in public(I dont agree, but it relates to some). I try to keep my deer in the bed of the truck with minimal display, out of common courtosy.

Just as bad to me as demanding one to conform to what they believe is right, is someone who blatantly does something to spite the request. What ever happened to common courtosy? The absense of it over the years has caused the absurd growth of the politicly correct activist groups. Do what you do, mind your own bussiness and have respect for others. Whats wrong with that?

I've understood the check on receipts at Sam's Club is due to the deals friends make with the cashiers, and the shoplifting is done by the cashier missing items, intentionally or unintentionally, whatever the case may be.
I'd prefer to not go through the inconvenience of showing a receipt. I can remember the better days when checking in at the airport was without any fanfare about security. But no-thanks to some, those days are gone.

"he was "performing a service for BJ's" by calling me and informing me of their policy."

Sorry to get off topic but a lot of our off topic discussions are interesting also.

Getut. I would have filed a formal complaint against the police officer who used local and state resources to find your identity when no crime was committed. Those resources are not to be used to inform you of private policy. In fact you still can file a complaint. There is no statue of limitations when it comes to Officer misconduct and the agency does not know about it. You did get his name didn't you???

This is actually a great example of the RIGHT way to do it. Anyone can post signs warning me of their search policy BEFORE I enter a business. I have the right to continue on my way and everyone is happy. Searching a person to make sure they are not stealing anything on the way out violates their rights unless they willingly give them up. The thing is that even though nearly everyone hates getting checked, most don't know they can legally refuse. Just don't be surprised if even the police try to convince you otherwise. Police will even intimidate you into complying if you let them... it just makes their job easier.

txdon... I wasn't looking to cause that kind of trouble and never have. I simply don't want to be treated like a criminal. I definitely don't want anyone else to get in trouble for my "statement" with the exception of the COMPANIES that do it. I would love to see some public outcry over it and just one big company get enough bad press over it, that ALL of them cease the obectionable act.

beenthere.. its funny you mention that. I have commonly heard that from Sam's club as justification "We are just checking receipts to make sure you weren't overcharged." I usually say, "believe me.. if I was overcharged, I'll be back." And if you wonder, I go back even if I was UNDER charged.

Hey, to each his own......

I just know that I have had very little trouble with the police because I dont cause waves ove minor things like providing my reciept on the way out of a store. It takes alot less time to show it and move on (they barely scan it anyhow) than it would to be hassled and deal with the police later.

Guess I'm less confrontational than some. I tend to save my energy to battle something that actually matters. If something that a store does pisses me off, I dont spend my money there. I think it hits them a little harder in the pocket than thumbing my nose at them on the way out with $100 worth of merchandise.

Possibly, being a member at Sam's Club, and still being in their store at the time of the request for the receipt, that may be their right to look at that receipt before you leave.
Interesting point. They also ask for the membership card at the time of purchase.

Driving down I-40 other day near downtown Knoxville and a vehicle had one of those deer carriers plugged into his hitch.

There was a deer laying on it, gutted and stuffed with ice, otherwise 100% exposed for all to see as he motored through town.

It didn't bother me but I did think it was a bit on the un-necessary side to have it 100% exposed since it was a fairly bloody mess. It would have been very easy to cover part of it up.

It is a shame some hunter's just don't understand that covering the dead animal can certainly not hurt the cause for future hunters. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Then again it was not too long ago that displaying a dear on your vehicle was an acceptable practice - but that was when more people butchered their own meat and had less time to watch TV.
