Dead ticks

Has anyone here heard of/used tick tubes? I have saved a bunch of cardboard TP rolls to make some. Just wondering if they are worth making and putting around the GA. property

I started with tick tubes last year. I also tried Guinea fowl. The Guinea fowl all flew away, but the tubes didn't, so I stay with the tubes. I'm also trying Muscovy ducks with a wing pinioned. We also switched to cat and dogs to Bravecto. Ticks are better, but I can't say what's doing it. They just got REALLY bad 2 years ago. So it may have just been a bad year, or our fight against them might be working. I'm told keeping the mice population down is important.

Currently saving the cardboard tubes with cotton balls and pyrethrums to try on the ticks come spring. Any others tried it out ?

I get the ticks on me all the time. Last one I had rode all the way from Al. to Texas embedded in me.
It had gotten pretty big by the time I found it in Texas.
So far, I have had no side effects from all the ticks I have gotten off myself

They itch like crazy when I'm bitten. Not only that, but a tiny pinhead sized tick will cause an itchy sore that takes a couple of weeks to heal.

yes, After pulling them off they leave a small place that will itch for a couple weeks.
I only get them when out in my wooded area. I think they are hiding in the trees and jump me when I walk by

Ticks don’t drop or jump on you, rather they position themselves on leaves or blades of grass, sensing co2 with an organ in their front legs. Once they sense co2 they hurry towards the source. Staying in the center of pathways away from vegetation is one way to minimize exposure. We lost a friend of a friend locally to Powassan virus a couple of years ago, so we take preventing ticks from attaching seriously and checking for them frequently. Lyme Disease is transferred after the tick is engorged with blood when the tick throws up a little, so prompt, correct, removal can prevent getting Lyme. Unfortunately Powassan transfers quickly, so the only way to be sure is making sure the tick doesn’t attach. Basic measures like anti-tick clothes treated to repel ticks helps. Even just tucking pants legs into socks is effective. Ticks are attracted to moist areas like around the ears, armpits or groin. I’ve read Navy Seals wear pantyhose to prevent tick or leeches attaching, so there’s that.
