Planning on fixing two 8ft gates this spring...have to lift them up to move them.

questions for the experts here.

I plan on using 6X6 treated posts and sinking them at least 50 inches. To avoid sagging again I was thinking I could use a deadman between the posts and was wondering what material to use? Wire cable? another post... say a 4X4?
Does the drainage in the area dictate what I should use?

any thoughts?

If you are running high tensile, you could just run a deadman from the bottom of the next post and put a crank on it. If it sags, give it a wind.

Wood looks better and if you really want to you put up two rails to the next post 6-8 foot away.

We have done that on corners for HT fence, sometimes adding a wire and a crank.
