If you're planning on moving snow with the FEL at night, you're going to find out real quick that you won't be seeing much with the stock front lights. I used my FEL the first year for snow and wound up plugging a portable spot light into the 12VDC plug and bungee mounting it to the ROPS. The FEL blocks most of the light, and worse, will reflect it back at you at certain points in the dump cycle. That's why I decided to add forward facing 55W halogen spots on the ROPS, and even though I have a plow now, they do help with side vision since I can rotate them in any direction. If you didn't get the 40amp alternator, you may still be able to add lights but would need to go the LED route, or get the upgraded alternator later.

Oh, congratulations on the new B. Guess I didn't understand you pulled the trigger already. Thought you were still shopping. Eagerly awaiting pic's.

Chris, I am aware there will be issues on the forward headlights and FEL. Lot's of guys here have mentioned that. I want to take my time and do some research on that. Which is also why I am waiting to install the alternator. I will install that myself, I think. More research needed. I don't "have" to plow at night, but I love to plow at night.

Good deal. I'm like a lot of BX owners, you always wonder if a B would be better.................?

No, I am not one of those who think a B is better just because it's a B. As I've said before, if Kubota sold here the B1620 or the B1820 they sell elsewhere in the UK, Europe and the world, I'd have bought one of those, especially if they were a grand less, which they would be.

Unexpectedly, my gardening kind of exploded. Thus the need for ground clearance. Same with my hens and eggs. Suddenly have way more customers than I expected. Sometimes things change, that's all.

what made you go with R4s? Of course if your BX had them and you never ran out of traction the B should be fine.

Ah, yes, the old tire angst!!

There isn't a perfect tire. I plow snow, work in dirt, and mow grass. It's gotta do it all and no one tire is best at "it all".

It is purely a compromise. That the R4 is also relatively more puncture resistant, is merely a plus.

Have you considered a HID swivelling flood lamp on the ROP top ?
Ten amps at start-up , and then less than 4 amps within 5 seconds
These things are REALLY bright. The drums a 25yrds apart.

Has anyone used a deep cycle battery and merely re-charged following an hour or two of night work?

Perhaps no deep cycle battery is small enough to fit into the tractor's battery space. Just thinking out loud.

My last boat had no alternator. I could run my accessories, trolling motor, lights, fish finder, etc, for hours on a full charge.

Well, time to do my morning chicken chores, clean up and head down the 70 miles to the Kubota dealer. Try to remember to take the dealer a dozen eggs as a gift. Gotta try and remember the camera in case I can get a picture of the tractor.

Wife wants to stop at Home Depot while we're down there too. That can't be good. That can only mean more work. I have the kitchen gutted for a total remodel. I assume this has something to do with that.

No ..... but I do have a light bar with four 55 watt floodlights on it .....

I never ran the battery down to the point where the tractor (B2910) wouldn't start while using them - my tractor only has the stock dynamo, not the higher output alternator ...... but after 6 or 7 years, and over 1000 hours on the tractor, I did finally have to replace the battery .......
