I adjusted the slack out of my throttle cable so engine will rev max rpm.

I mow at WOT for max BTS to get the smoothest cut :D

I note that most of you guys use the low range for speed. Except for one hilly area that I mow in a side hill direction, I never take mine out of high speed. I did have one scary moment when shifting back from low to high speed....somehow the lever stopped in between the two ranges and the mower took off and I couldn't stop it and it was moving very fast...faster than in either range and none of the pedals worked. I shut it off and figured out what I had done. Not the mower's fault...but be careful that you go all the way into the slot for the speed you plan to use. Great machine.

Same thing happened to my son, he thought he was engaging the PTO. Down the hill he went, very fast. He finally had the presence of mind to steer away from the tree line.

I haven’t had mine long but are you guys saying you can shift while moving? I always stop then shift.

So the F series doesn't have a brake pedal?! Wow! Even my ZD has a brake pedal. That sounds very unsafe.

It does have a brake pedal but put any tractor in neutral going down hill and watch what happens, try it with your Z. The F shouldn't go in neutral but obviously it did. Also try a tractor in 2wd coming down a grassy hill or loose gravel instead of 4wd and a brake and once will do you.
I never take mine out of low range except on paved road. Mine will go as fast as I want to go while mowing in low gear. 12 or 6.5 and 6.5 is fast enough for me while mowing on my not pavement smooth yard (Not lawn)..............http://www.kubota.com/product/F90/F90.aspx

My JD tractor accidentally slipped outta 4wd as I was mowing down a STEEP BANK.
It gained speed BIG TIME w my 1,350lb 110" RFM PUSHING it !!!
SCARY RIDE down the hill & it spun around sideways at the bottom into 6ft high grass hayfield.

Yes, it has a brake pedal and I used it....but I had some scary moments until I did and shut the mower off with the key. My reaction time going for the brake was a little slower than usual because I was not expecting to need a brake. Usually you know when you need to brake and get your foot up and ready....but this happened out of the blue. John Thomas thought my mower slipped into neutral...It DID NOT, rather it took off under what seemed like extreme powered speed and that's what was so scary. Believe me sliding out of gear would have not been nearly so bad!!

Well didn't think I would be making any modifications, but maybe I will call this an enhancement. Installed a Jensen waterproof radio to the F today. I like listening to the radio when I mow, headphones with built in radio cut out too much where I live. So this radio is waterproof and I use bluetooth headphones with it. Works great so far.
