( just the ludicrous idea that there is no room for negotiation so no point in bothering.

I am generalizing several threads into my comments because I’ve seen the same kind of comment on most brands and obviously a dealer is going to say there’s not much if any room to move on price. But the most recent that caught my eye was the thread linked below. There are plenty of other threads similar however, some of them far more ridiculous but I didn’t keep them in my bookmarks.
from the orange thread on negotiating
Having read on TBN for about a year now I will say the Kubota thread is the one where you’ll see the most questionable information on pricing and “price checks” where a relatively high price is called reasonable. You’d almost think maybe you should offer more than they’re asking because they might not have any left if you don’t.
The one thing common to most pricing questions is people claiming to have saved _ _% by buying brand X etc. That is also useless without saying what they paid. Comments that don’t include specific price for specific items are of little comparable value. Also if one gets similar prices from several dealers without us knowing what those prices are they may have all been equally high or equally reasonable. If a price was reasonable to begin with then yes there is no room for negotiation, but many dealers are quoting people MSRP prices and hoping the buyer accepts that. What possible reason could there be for trying to hide even MSRP’s? They are only useful if you dig deeper into what discounts others are offering, but by hiding MSRP you make it easier for a dealer to try and price higher IMO.
I suppose the bottom line on any deal (especially on a new more so than used) is the dealer needs your money more than you need his tractor. If you’ve done enough homework and are price conscious and don’t like the deal, go to another dealer. If you have money to burn, accept what he throws at you.
