I did the fluid change on my L3710DT even thought my dealer had given me the same advice that you received. However, I racked up a few more hours on mine before I was able to do the work and it was actually closer to 100 hours than 50 by the time it was changed. My fluid appeared to be emulsified with water so I was glad that I had decided to change it rather than just change the filter. I think my tractor may have set in the weather for a while on the dealer's lot before I purchased it and would say that the exposure is probably the most likely source of the water in the fluid. I am now running Chevron Synthetic THF and it still looks good at 217 hrs.

I had the same thing told to me by the KUBOTA dealship nearest me. They said that the filter took out any metals and to just change the filer and add enough oil to top it off.

I thought about doing that and sending Catepillar an oil sample, but I decided against it. I even decided against using Chevron Tractor Hydraulic Fluid that meets the specs, because I don't want any warranty problems.

After all the threads I've read over the years I've been a member of TBN, I don't recall anyone who performed the 50 hour service who stated the screen was clean.

It's a mistake to skip the screen!

Well then let me be the first (or second or whatever) - last year when I did the 50 hour service on our B2910 (bought a year ago) the screen was pristine - nothing on it, nada, zlich. Go figure. Fluid looked great too. Refilled it with SUDT. The tractor had been stored inside before assembly.

Peter, I did my 50hr service in the spring 04 and had very few shavings in the screen. If I remember correctly there was a post about the same time comparing "shavings" .

Looked at the Kubota Quick Reference Maintenance Table you linked to above. They recommend an air filter change at 800 hrs /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif!!! But clean it every 100 hrs. I replaced mine at 300 hrs.

at purchase, my dealer said draining the hydrostat transmission was a bad idea. something about being difficult to get all the air out and never will run good again. don't recall what they said the solution was. i will ask this week.

No offense intended.

WHAT A LOAD OF PITBULL POOOP!!!!!!

Apparently not all dealers are created equal.

Kubota should be more careful who they let sell there equipment.

Last Fall, I changed my B7610 HSTs fluid and all the oil filters and cleaned the screen at 48 hours. I used the SUDT fluid and Kubota filters. The dealer did tell me that changing the front transaxle and cleaning the screen was a waste of time and money. I didn't empty the front axle fluid, but I did clean the screen and it had a surprising amount of metal fragments and fine metal silt.
Bottom line is to not void your warranty, follows Kubota's requirements. What "the dealer said" won't cut it.

Steve
