Dealer says it\'s normal- this can\'t be right?!

I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now- what great information on Kubota! My wife and I are building an attached garage to our home and bought a B3030 w/FEL to help in the task (no BH for now, will rent a CAT for a day or two). So the story goes, started clearing the site and could not believe what a fantastic machine this is compared to using the old 8N with rear bucket all these years! About 3 days later and about 5 hours on the clock started feeling increasing vibration through the seat and the steering wheel- sounds like the engine was making more noise too (running about 1900 rpm). At first I dismissed it, but now at 8 hours it is definately there and can't ignore it. My wife says it feels like driving a cement mixer!. Had the local dealer stop by for a sanity check- he scooped and dumped a few loads and said all is normal..... except for the steering wheel vibration and would look into it further. If it has changed from when you started… You know that it is not right.

I suspect when they find what is causing the vibration in the steering that will fix all your problems. When you say ‘like driving a cement mixer’ do you mean hard to steer?

In any case you have noticed the change in only 5 hours of use, so your dealer should be able to find the cause. Good luck and post back with what they find… KennyV.

First, Welcome to TBN. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I see you have posted before but have not been welcomed to TBN.

Sure it can be right. Steering problem may be something in the valving that needs repair. There have been a couple of post on TBN about steering on the BX model steering, having some kind of problem with vibration. The Steering on the B3030 is different from the B2910 that it replaced. It is full Hydrostatic. I'm sure your dealer will find the problem and repair it.

One thing not mentioned, I would not use it till it is fixed, since not sure what it is you dont want to do further damage to whatever. Really surprised the dealer did not tell you this, I would have it at his place as soon as possible.

And be sure and let us know what it was

Following the old adage: "fix the cheap things first."

You didn't mention you or the dealer looking for a loose fan belt.

Have you looked into the engine compartment when the engine is running at 1,900 rpm? Look at the fan/dynamo belt. If it is whipping about it will cause considerable vibration. Check it with the engine off first, any more slack that a thumbs worth is too much.

Thanks everyone for your input- checked belt and is tight. Spoke again w/dealer today and they started a B7800 on the lot and said the thing vibrated same as mine. Hmmm. They checked for any TSB's on the subject- none. I would not expect any just yet on a B3030, new model. They are going to call Kubota in Columbus and see if they can offer any additional information. Oh, and they said to keep on using it......Will advise.
