Dealer sold me a light duty scraper blade

The finance angle is okay until something goes wrong. Then it could become fraud. Swapping any Serial Numbered item on the Finance Contract can get ugly.

My disappointment with the dealer is that he is selling too small/light blade for that tractor and sounds like many more.

<snip> He gave me the RB0560 <snip>
If he gave it to you that would be one thing, but we assume he sold it to you as part of a package.
Is he testing you to see what he can get away with?
Can you go to his boss?
Like others wrote don't use it.
And if it hasn't been delivered yet start letting his boss know you may refuse delivery. He's probably figuring he can sell you the heavier duty one AFTER you bend up the one he sold you first.

/edit - and with some salesman they only lie when they speak but that's how they operate.

I don't think we should assume the dealer lied to anybody. I think the OP already mentioned that he didn't look this deal over close enough in the beginning.

I've never quite understood financing implements. But that's just me. What the new light duty blade cost would have bought a heavy duty used blade off the local trader network or Craigslist.

since you are new to this tractor stuff consider this a lesson and move on.
There is a lot to learn about everything you do now and really its up to you what happens. Research everything you can before you jump in.

You are in the RIGHT place here. lots of free advise from years of trial and error.

If they dont accept the blade in exchange for a better one move on to a more reliable dealer.

A lot of good comments here guys. I am not certain of the price difference between the two blades I mentioned - but will get that info. tomorrow morning when I call him again. I get really busy with work all day during the dealer's operating hours.

It is essentially unused, I hung it on the 3 pt while doing some loader work just to have some kind of ballast...I was in a tight spot and rotary cutter wouldn't have worked out :)

I am probably willing to pay for the difference cash, on the upgrade blade. It would be great if they offered it to me at their cost for my troubles, and my loss of confidence and trust in future advice/attachment purchases.

Regarding financing attachments - I'm not made of money and only had an extra $1500 but decided to put it all as a down payment. I understand deals are out there on used stuff - but the small amount it added to my payment for a rear blade seemed worth it. Too bad it's not really working out at the moment, but we'll see what he comes up with tomorrow.

The salesman is not the easiest guy to get along with, so if he is still being stubborn with me (trying to tell me he knows what I need, even though it's not listed as a proper attachment on Land Pride site... he also didn't know what a scarifier was and says he's never sold one...) then I guess the next step would be to write an email to the GM or owners and see if I can settle it with them instead.

I bit the bullet and went with Kubota knowing I was paying a bit of a premium, but figured top notch expertise and a comfortable atmosphere would be worth it - I'm starting to feel a bit disappointed that he's acting like it's a pain for him to get me sorted out right, and that I'm an oddball that he hasn't come across in 15 years because I want a heavier blade that is clearly spec'd for my tractor?

I'l keep giving him the benefit of the doubt until further notice. Thanks again, and I'll update soon.

My pet peeve is dealers that sell and push cheaper/smaller equipment. One would think, they would try to sell bigger, more expensive, but I find the opposite. They have probably learned it's easier to make their sales volumes this way.

This still comes back to the same starting point. You inventoried the list of equipment you were purchasing and signed the contract.

We could be having this discussion under opposite conditions. "The Salesman sold me a heavier rear blade than I needed".

Very few people on here are made of money. You could have held back $300-$500 of that down payment and bought one He!! of a heavy duty used blade. But you only looked at the difference in the monthly payment.

Manufacturers of all colors have designed this "trap". They started by calling it "0% financing". Now they want to talk "package deals". You gotta give them credit for their ingenuity. And all they talk about is the "monthly payment" amount.

Without looking at your contract, can you tell us what you paid for this blade?

The dealership will work out a solution for you that satisfies your needs. Keep us posted.

And that confuses you how? In the first ten minutes this salesman knew how much per month the buyer could stand. Everything after that is secondary. All changes are referred to by the change in monthly payment amount. It's the World we live in and have been living in for a couple decades now. I was told the other day that you can now finance a new car for 8 years......

Some are still paying for the last car then they refinance for the next.

It's kind of like getting tools for free when you buy something. Have you ever got a good high quality Allen Key set, when you buy flat pack furniture? lol

The one single purpose of all manufacturer's finance programs is to keep you in a payment. And with Auto's, yep, you'll trade it before you get it paid off. The manufacturer's are betting on it. And winning.
