I was wondering if anyone had any experience with dealing with Backyard Power in Woodbine MD or Precision Small Engine in College Park MD. I have been talking to both dealers on a BX22TLB mainly by email. I am trying to get a feel of which one to go with.

nnicklas,
heck yeah i have talked with backyard power! stay away! i am not sure where you are but i would contact fredrick equipment at 301-898-1200 ask for mike ripeon he is the owner/manager.

backyard power wouldnt take my trade 2 years back and was about 3K more than FE. then when i talked to them last month they were almost 5K higher than FE before FE even started dealing. BP doesnt seem to care about anything but the sale....once you pay they are done with you. they have ruined a good bus. BP really cators to the high income yuppy that has moved into lisbon and knows nothing about tractor other than they need something bigger than the lawnboy they used in the suburbs! i am sorry that i have nothing good to say about them....whats even worse is they are only 2 miles from my house! FE is about 40 miles or so....shows you how much they mean to me.

as for precision small engine...i dont know too much. they were very professional and polite but when it came down to it they didnt really specialize in the size machine i went with. they really cator to the landscaper i think. i have never heard anything ill about them.

i cannot say it enough stay away from backyard power if you want a nice shopping and buying experience!

Out of curiousity and if it's OK with you, what price did Backyard Power quote you on the BX?
My guy here in eastern WV(not too far from you) quoted 14,500. (BX22 Fel BH)

I concur with the recomendation of Mike at Frederick Equipment. They are also part of the same family owned business with Gaithersburg tractor in Gaitherdburg MD. They are truly about getting you in the right tractor and giving service after delivery. You can also get a price or questions from Mike at Frederick via email. MLRIPPEON@aol.com. I just purchased a B2410 from them two months ago. Dealt with folks at both locations. I am happy. Hope this helps

nnicklas,
I'm not sure where you are located. But, I live in Hampstead, MD which is fairly close to PA. I bought my b7500 from Finch Services in Hanover,PA. The guys there were wonderful to deal with. I asked for pricing from Carver Equipment and they beat it by $200.00 delivered. They had all the parts in stock and ready to go. No horror story here, they are a first clas operation. By the way, I didn't have to pay sales tax since I'm not a resident of PA. Good luck...

Nniklaas,
When was buyng my NH TC35 I called Frederick for a quote, even though they were 120 miles away from the property...Mike Ripeon was helpful, responsive and specific...even though he knew I was likely to choose a dealer closer to the eventual home for the tractor. I appreciated the help and suspect that it relfects a wider good service attitude (see post in the Deere forum on tradeoffs between cheap price vs local dealer).
Good luck,
Chas

Thanks to every one who has responded so far. Thank god for TBN I may have made an expensive mistake and wouldn't have found it out until it was too late. I emailed Mike Ripeon and look forward to hearing what he has to say. I am in Northern Anne Arundel County and Frederick is a ways away but for a good dealer it is worth it. Keep them posts a commin'

I love the 2410. I did consider the 2910 but thought it was a bit overkill for me. I put over 20 hours the first month. Frederick Tracor was great. The front tire pooped off the bead ofter 5 hours of use (Still cant explain that). They sent a guy out the hnext day to replace the tire and rim. It was a very pleasant experience. I'll know more when I use some rear implements but the mower deck and loader work great. I had been using a frined L2500 and it was way too mouch. I decided on the 2410 as it has the ponies and position control but on a compact deck. I hope your experience is as good as mine.
