I have read about chainsaw-related fatalities, but I have never read about either of these fatality categories:

Is there any way that a chainsaw can explode other than spilling fuel on the muffler?

I suppose the engine could malfunction at WOT and shatter the engine case which might cause a fuel fire. I would expect that to be a "soft" explosion but could catch the operator on fire??

As to killing yourself with a chainsaw, I guess if you are disillusioned enough to kill someone with an axe, killing yourself with a chainsaw might seem plausible?
