DEC.29 IN WESTERN NEW YORK

Heck, by June I'm in shorts wading in the warm summer waters in search of bluegills /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

For that matter, you could take a boat out right now... there's no ice on the lakes. As a kid I always enjoyed the two weeks of ice fishing, skating and sledding I could do over Christmas break. Haven't done that for 10+ years, now. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Now that I think about it, we usually started ice fishing right after Thanksgiving and stopped in March. Now we're lucky to get on the ice in mid January and it's over in 4-5 weeks. For anyone that doubts the climate is changing, I can tell you, it's warmer now than it was 20-30 years ago, at least here in Northern Indiana.

( STRANGE WINTER, dec.29 and the temp today was 52 deg, and mostly sunny, now this is not normal for us. i have had to plow snow only once(and that was because i wanted to) am i going to pay for this? )

Same deal here, Frank. We have a sea of mud instead of any snow. I had to plow a couple or three times, but then we hit a while of 40+, and even close to 50 degrees, and it all disappeared. Not sure what to expect next! Don't have much choice, so I guess not much point worrying about it. I expect us to get clobbered at least once this winter.. just not sure when. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bob (Williamson, near Rochester, NY.. along the "104 Corridor" which is noted for Lake Effect snow.)

Frank, My guess, yes we are going to pay. I'm 3 hours east of you and have cleared the drive 3 - 4 times this season. It seems every significant snow storm has been followed by a heat wave and rain. If the rain had been snow, we'd be up to our eyeballs by now. Last year we hit 110" for the seaon, (2x the norm), and the forecasters are calling for the same this year.

Well we are finally having a winter here. Over the last few years we have not had a good winter. This year we are right on the mark and it is cold, and we have had about a foot in the valley and approximately 5 feet in the hills, yea.

Took the fel with water buckets to the hydrant to fill the water troughs and almost has a stupid human trick. The front tires got in a drift and pushed the FEL into the hydrant. It just touched. I had bad visions of digging 6 feet down in frozen soil and 5 degree night through several feet of the white stuff to repair the situation. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

On inspection the FEL just touched the hydrant and did zero damage, now off to buy that lotto ticket! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now that is a beautiful campus when it is covered in fresh snow! Down at the Grotto by the lake... ahhh... very nice. Supposed to be in 40s here for the foreseeable future. I think we've had 9 or 11 inches of snow total this season. Pretty weenie winter! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Now, Buffalo... you're talking real snow! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I love to watch the lake affect come off Lake Michigan, but it is nothing to the stuff you get off Lake Erie. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

correct again, except we ain'r getting any lake effect snow. but i do beleive it will come. the lake is still pretty warm and all open water, if we get a good cold snap watch out. and that is a beautiful campus, always enjoyed going there, ESPECIALLY the weekend of graduation! seems like i own part of it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif with all the $$$$ i spent there. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
