Buying Advice deciding between a b and l series

   / deciding between a b and l series #21
I have a B7800 and use a Bush Hog 72" finish mower for my yard. The tractor hardly notices that it is there. When I lift up the mower the front gets light with no loader on so extra weight would be nice. I don't do much heavy loader work so I have no need for a larger machine but the L series is sure nice. It comes down to what you would prefer. If your current machine is closer in size to the L series and it is just fine for the work you are doing then there is no contest. If you feel it could be a little smaller at times then consider the B. From your description it sound like either work.

Thanks for the input everyone! I'm leaning toward the l2800 that is unless I find a much better deal on a B3200. I tend to like the way the Ls are laid out. I found a used l2800 near me with 180 hours. I believe they are asking $15,500. From what I hear this dealer is willing to negotiate.

Yeah, go with the L. The B will not be that much better for the lawn (you need a BX for that) and the L is more of a tractor at about the same price.

A few of the others mentioned the L3700 and for about 3K more you could get one new with a loader (Quick detach bucket), filled tires, warranty, and the hitch pretty easily. Maybe worth a look

I was going to say the same thing, but since I own an L3700SU I did not want to express my bias. Yes the L3700SU is the best deal Kubota has.

do the L's have a flat floor deck or raised?

do the L's have a flat floor deck or raised?

The Lxx00's that I tried out had a slight "hump" in the middle while the Grand L's had flat decks. The Grand L's felt roomier to me and had easier entrance to the deck. You will pay more for the Grand L.

If you are looking at the L's without a mid pto, you really should be comparing them in price to the B3300 instead of the B3200. I really don't know what is best for your needs, just suggesting closer pricing comparisions.

I recently traded my new (29 hrs) B3300SU back in on a L2800HST because of vibration problems at PTO speeds with the B3300 with a 4 cylinder engine. The L2800 with its 3 cylinder engine is a heavier tractor and has virtually no vibration at PTO speeds. I personally like it much better. Test drive both and make your own decision.
