Yanmar 3110D, Kioti NS6010C HST
I am coming from a Yanmar 3110d ~33hp tractor.

I am down to choosing between a Kubota MX5400HSTC (57 HP on HST) or a Massey Ferguson 2860MH (60 HP) to replace it. Both units are new, the Kubota being in a crate and the Massey being an unsold 2023.

The Massey has a lot more features for the same cost due to the Kubota being an economy tractor. Things that the Massey has the Kubota doesn't:

* LED headlights
* a handle on the right side door
* a step on the right side door
* rear remotes standards
* bluetooth radio standard
* toolbox on the back
* cruise standard (not sure on MX)
* air ride seat w/ arms
* fueling at ground level
* adjustable hydrostatic with speed limiter

The downside is the dealer is 2 hrs further away than the Kubota which is 30 min away and the Kubota dealer is a large dealer. I have heard the Kubota insurance is good as well however quite costly. The Massey dealer is suggesting using Farm Bureau with an inland marine policy for a good bit of savings.

Weight is about the same between them, about 50lbs different.

Has anyone had experience with these or the brands and/or tractor models and could suggest thoughts for things I may not have considered?

Thanks!

What’s the price differential between the two?

With all the extra features the Massey seems like a better deal but only if you would use those features.

Have you sat in or operated both? If not I would since one just might fit you better than the other.

I drove a 2850m shuttle and didn’t find it comfortable. I’d have to drive to this other dealer 2.5 hrs away to drive the 2860mh which I’m planning to do. I’ve never driven the Kubota MX5300HSTC because they’re never put together always in a crate when I’ve talked to dealers. I was able to sit in one that was in for repair but couldn’t drive it. At onset it felt more comfortable but to your point I’d prefer to operate each.

Without considering insurance, about $5 difference- so basically the same price.
I think my MX5400 has cruise control but I never needed it.
The air ride seat would be nice and I think you need the rear remotes.
If it's a $5 difference I would go with the Kubota. Insure it through your homeowners which I did with Texas Farm Bureau.
Back in 2021 when I bought my MX5400 HST (no cab), I paid $1k for the 3rd function and $200 for two rear remotes installed. I would get the add-ons purchased and installed before you pick up the tractor.

My dealer is 3+ hours drive one way. I have been there twice in six years, once to test drive and once to pick up a used backhoe attachment. They ship the parts I need, which has mostly been maintenance stuff like filters. To me having a dealer close isn't that big a factor.

You NEED to test drive before you decide. You might need to do it more than once. It is a lot of money and you will be spending a lot of time in there. I do love my air ride seat!!! If you go Kubota, I would see if they could do an air ride seat in there if possible.

What are the screens like on the radiator for your tractor? Often times in the fall when I’m cutting with the bush hog, my screen on my Hjalmar will get filled with the fuzz from the broomstraw. It was nice to have a screen to pull out to knock off and then slide back in to keep going. I saw a video For a MX 6000 where it appeared like there wasn’t a screen to pull out or the guy in the video just didn’t know it was only a flappy screen in front of the radiator.
