Montana online auction I am bidding on. Flat bed and stock trailer. No listing on the flatbed manufacturer. Stock trailer is a '84 Qubit Ramrod, never heard of them and can't find out anything. Seems crazy, but it is near my brothers home town and we are not getting any younger. I kinda want both or none, sometimes based on what and when something sells, you don't always get it your way. Since they are both really ugly, it might work out :D I can see past the first glance and can see the potential. They are both way better than they look. I just posted a couple of pictures to see what the comments are :) feel free.

If I get them, we will probably keep the stock trailer. We don't have one and I always worry, in an emergency, we might need to haul a horse or a pig. Since it will be parked for years on end, I don't want to park a high quality unit. The flat bed, I will probably fix and sell, or keep it :D They are both running 16.5 tires, so they are old.

I'll bet that flatbed is crazy heavy, but looks like a good trailer.

Three good things about the stock trailer.
1. A swinging and sliding door which can be priceless in certain situations.
2. An escape door, can be priceless especially with a solid top.
3.. The Chevrolet hub caps on the wheels. LOL.
One good thing about the deck over trailer.
1. It's got a pintle hitch, so once you get it re-decked there won't be many people with the right hitch to borrow it.

Ended up with both trailers and 3 garden tractors, so I am garden tractor poor now:) 916, 17 and 19, all the 900 series. I will go get them this week.

Taking this hitch with me, not a fan of the pintle hitch for a pickup.

I've got one of these for my truck but no trailer. It was in the toolbox when I bought the truck. There was all sorts of stuff in there. Even a working iPod that links to the radio (for music or books). I bought it at a police auction, so it was no doubt, a forfeiture.

Loaded up and heading North today. About 10k on my little 10k truck:) The barrels are full of used oil for my brothers waste oil furnace. Bringing 2 265/70x17 Cooper ST Max castoff pulling tires I have, they will fit the trailer and even the truck in a pinch. My W/D hitch is 2" so I ordered in a 2.5"adjustible shank that will fit my hitch. I installed it on the truck with the sleave adapter but don't really like it, seems to add slop.

MY spring bar clamps are 2.75" and the trailer has a 3" frame so my brother said he will make them fit. Didn't want to tow that beast without it.

Will load the stock trailer full of garden tractors forward, for less wind resistance and less hitch weight. Guessing about 11k loaded trailer or about 20k GCW.

Hit that guess. Empty fuel mileage was 20.46, loaded 10.06. When posters say my empty mileage is the same as my loaded mileage, are just plain silly... The drive/trailer axles weights are backwards.

Trailer is done, ready to deliver to new owner. I spaced the first deck board with clearance for tie downs and added 3 D-rings over the fenders. (4) oem D-rings per side, just don't get it.

Does look like a good trailer (the flatbed)! I would tow it!

It's so amazing for me to see "older" trailers from other parts of the country. Here, the deckover would be very rusted and pitted, while the livestock trailer would be rusted and very perforated. What a dream it would be to find used stuff in that condition here... not that i need or could even use either of those trailers.

Also, very refreshing to see someone who will admit that empty and loaded fuel economy is not the same.

My lowboy trailer is a 1957 that came from Georgia and it’s not pitted anywhere.

Sometime I go from 22mpg empty to 9mpg loaded. And from what I can tell when cruising level ground the loads wind resistance matters as much (maybe) more that the load weight.

Not finished with my refurbish but we are using it as is. It is going to make a fine trailer. The rust and rot, is from the inside out, from poor housekeeping.

Why? ;)

That was built when stuff was promised to “last a lifetime”, and it probably will if you take reasonable care of it.

I don’t load even half its rated capacity and I don’t haul in salt either. I’ll probably end up selling it and buying something with more gentle approach ramps but I’ll never wear that trailer out.

Why what? My post has several subjects.

Here you go, I just picked this trailer up. Very similar to the one I just rebuilt and sold. Too big for my use, so I will do a minor tune up and resell it. Should fit the bill in your "Torsion suspension" thread. About half the money of the Diamond C you were looking at.

Started working on the big trailer. Moved the spare tire mount to a better, more user friendly location. Installed the ball coupler and checked the break away battery. It is huge, never seen one that big, garden tractor size. It is old and dead, so I need a new one. It can run a small winch. I might need to install new tires, they are old and out of round. If I do, I will order them in and mount them myself. 9.50x16.5's are easy to mount/dismount.

About half done. Did I say these tires were easy to hand mount? What was I smoking, lol. I keep forgetting, that was then...

I was a little nervous about the date code since this is not a popular size, but 1024 is good. Seem to be a fine, heavy duty tire. Made in Thailand, the Goodyears were made in Venezuela. I mounted one of the best ones on an old oem Ford wheel, I carry for my equipment trailer, as an extra spare when I travel long distance. It had a real old 8.75 Power King on it. I don't like that small size, but they were free at the time...I have a second one I will do the same thing with. I have a hard time throwing all that rubber away, I won't save the 8.75's:) This trailer, just has not been used. 26 years old and the original tires are about 60-70%.

I ordered a full set of oil bath hub caps and seals. 12v98 twisted my arm, so I went with unitized this time. Thats what was on it. I have had trouble with them, way back when they first started using them, but I think they have improved since then.
