deep digging with a grand l 4330

A toothbar will make the job much easier on you and on the tractor. For less than $200 I'd buy one for this job and then have it available in the future.

Good Luck,
Kevin

I am confused why anyone would discourage buying a tooth bar for this task or for any digging with the fel. For a very small investment the change it makes in the loaders digging ability it incredible. It clearly makes the loader 10 times more useful. A hoe is great for trenching but lets face it, basically it is a very expensive counter wt and its in the way most of the time. For the task at hand in this project the tooth bar will will take days off this project and how much is that worth to anyone

I can only speak for myself. I don't see this project as a "digging" job. I see it as a scraping (box scraper) job. Rip (if necessary), scrape, carry (when necessary), disperse, all in one operation. Pretty quick cycle time.

The guy asked if he could dig it with his FEL. I think that was well established early in this thread. Others had comments based on experience with a FEL, with and without a toothbar. Others had alternatives, such as myself. Don't know who suggested the guy do this job with a BH. I said I use it for digging.

From you previous reply: there seems to be a lot of areas in this country that are endowed with rocks. One of which, where I live, is old glacial morraine ... rocks from pebbles to small-car size are almost everywhere. With all of my other attachments, I have yet to find a use for a toothbar. Though, when I do, I'll make one. If you can't afford a box scraper or backhoe, fine. I can't afford Dargo's equipment, but he sure uses the right tools for his jobs.

In short, there's always more than one decent solution to most jobs ... kindof depends on how you see it and what you have and what you think you might need to acquire.

Cheers!
