Jag,

Well.... not the first four times I watched it, but after that I really did like it.

CBD, Oh I did not take it as a put down, and my replay was with a lot of jest. Most hunters and shooters really do not how much like a rainbow the flight path is after about 400 yards. Most people never have shot that that far, and most that will tell you that they have hit at over 300 have never measured it. I had one friend that dropped a little buck at what he claimed was over 400 yards, this was on a place I had hunted before and said no way.. Push came to shove and the bet was on.. The next weekend we went out with a laser rangerfinder and checked, 235 yards, the maximun possible in that field was only about 265. Most shots can get pretty long if there is no way to check.

Another point of interest (to me anyway), 308 at a 1000 yards (that magic number for an extreme long way) the bullet will travel from 20 to 24 feet above the line of sight on the way out to the target...

<font color=blue>"Maine law permits hunting on private property unless the owner posts it off-limits with signs, a letter or verbally"</font color=blue>

Okay, my mind is now officially blown. I am an avid hunter and yet can't quite grasp the logic behind this regulation.

Jag,

Can you run Quigley's Buffalo gun? I have read other places it is 1300fps and is described Here at the bottom of the page. Thanks in advance, if not no big deal./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Twinkle toes,
I work with a classic BS artist who is always talking about guns and shooting etc. We call him Quigley up and over./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

NY is in effect the same. If you walk onto land that is not fenced or posted you are legal until a property owner tells you to get off. Then if you don't it's trespassing. Basically you have to have some notification that what you're doing is illegal.

I like that movie too Al. I suppose one of the reasons it is not more widely liked is that it is not PC correct to point out the Aussies rode goats or sheep or something and weren't real cowboys /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif ----now you Aussies don't get all steamed---I like o' Croc Dundee too. I liked it when Quig told the bad guy I never said I could'nt shoot one (a pistol) just didn't care for them or some such. Yeah, that was a good movie.
I suppose one reason why people tresspass is that in many places it is diffucult to find public access land for hunting. One way to reduce tresspassing is to allow more public hunting. I do know what you guys mean though about the irresponsibility of some hunters. They have new types of bullets that do not ricochet as easily also for use in rifles. I like my ol' lever gun for close in hunting of deer if I were to actually hunt one of the little wood rat ba----ds but really these days it only kills dirt clods. The Mini 30 is a good choice also. For dispatching varmints in built up areas the Ruger M7722 chambered for the 22Hornet using Hornadays new 35 grain bullet at approx 3,000FPS is excellent. The bullet evaporates as soon as it touches anything solid like the ground reducing richochet to virtually impossible. J

Its sad that one has to be so greedy,by this I mean showing no respect for other sportmen..hunting,fishing etc..in which gives a bad name also land becomes posted.
If the decoy was place up on your land,I'm little surprise that one of the game warden had not contacted you before hand.

By the sounds this wasn't the first time and maybe not the last time the party has done something like this before...its a true shame.
