John Deere 1050
Bought a 1987 Deere 1050 a couple days ago and feel as though the hydraulics are a bit weak. When trying to move snowbanks, the loader didn't have enough power to lift them. Has enough down pressure to lift the front wheels, but it also has a backhoe on the rear. Is there an adjustment to the bypass valve on the pump or in the banks? Hoping to find a quick fix that doesn't involve installing gauges or testing oil viscosity. It just had its service done at a dealership where they replaced the filters and fluids. I'll take any advice as I need it to do work for me!

If it has a sump pick up screen like our bigger JD they may not have cleaned it. What was the air temps?

Possibly has a weak pressure relief valve. I would suggest checking hyd pressure with a gauge. It appears it has a screen plus a filter.

Air temp today was about 40. Didn't change any as we used it. Backhoe squeals when rotating the boom to the left. How big a pain is it to pull the sump screen and filter? I'm mechanically inclined, but have never rebuilt a motor.

hyd filter is a spin off/on type and the screen appears to require removal of 3 studs.

Sounds good. I'll take a look tomorrow and see if the screen is clogged
