Deere 2320 PTO HP -- anyone actually test it?

I recall my father heading to Lincoln for tractor tests several times a year, depending on how many Deere tractors were new and untested at the time. The 2-cyl. diesels were his baby.
Beenthere, are you referring to the old twin cylinder Detroit 2-cycle diesel engines Deere used in some of their equipment? Those diesel engines had a sound (purr) like no other. I had a 1959 John Deere 440D dozer years ago with that Detroit twin cylinder 2-cycle engine and it was a real work horse for it's size (approx 7-8000 lbs iirc). Wish many times I still had it but a guy came along and offered me way more than I payed for it.

No, am referring to the John Deere 2-cyl diesel engines in their tractors until about 1959 when they came out with their 4 and 6 cyl engines out of the Waterloo, IA engine plant.
First 2 cyl Deere engine was in the model R which came out in 1949.

I'm looking at getting a new PTO-driven wood chipper (probably one of the Wood Maxx chippers) and I got to thinking about the PTO HP of my Deere 2320. On a lot of the TractorData.com pages, there is a "Claimed" versus "Tested" rating for the PTO, and frequently the tested figure is higher. I've looked around and haven't seen anything on the 2320 / 1025R that puts the stated 18 PTO HP amount to the test. Any thoughts? Just wondering if anyone has actually tested this or knows of someone that has?

I'm looking at getting the WoodMaxx TM-86H Hydraulic Chipper, which can go as low as 15HP, but I'm just curious what my tractor can put out.

I have the same engine in my garden tractor and use it with a DR 3pt chipper with the belt drive speed increaser pulleys. Works fine for small branches up to 2 inches as it feeds this size through the chipper fast. Feeding a lot of larger branches would take more power than this size engine will handle. This would start to slow down the process enough to make me loose interest. My chipper was brand new when given to me by my brother, so the price was right but after using it a few times it has sat for the most part.

The Woodmaxx chipper you mention has a larger throat and more features than my simple DR chipper. My take is I don't think you have quite enough power to make good use out of a chipper. After about 40 to 50 hrs of use I decided that while it is handy to have for small clean up jobs it was too slow to use overall. If you had 10 more hp available it would make a big difference imo.
