Deere 4310 or Kubota L3130 ?

And this is exactly why I said "What do I know". /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I was under the mistaken impression that the BH in the specs was for a Bush Hog brand back hoe and not the Kubota unit. As such, I stand corrected (well, actually I'm sitting right now - but you get the picture). Armed with this new information, I'll change my vote to Kubota (mostly becaused I'm biased toward orange). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif But ONLY if you get the HST. Although, it does appear that the "specs" favor the Kubota over the JD on loader and back hoe. Is this going to be one of those Orange vs. Green posts? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The only problem with the "Skid Steer Compatible" is that most of the implements for skid steers weigh in the 900 pound and up range...Having several buckets/grapples for my NH LX685 loader, I put the quick attach on my Kubota before I did my homework and have only found a light weight set of forks that I bought, and the ag/utility bucket w/grapple that Bradco makes (but can't find in the entire SE U.S.) that I have been trying to buy for several months!!!

Putting 900 pound attachment on a FEL that won't handle but 1,000 to 1,500 pounds doesn't leave much left over to pick anything up...but it sure does look impressive!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The BH90 sure looks nice! Sure lot's of Good info on this thread...

The biggest issue I wanted to raise was from discussions on 3ph vs. subframe mount. Some subframe owners were lamenting the loss of ground clearance, but not wanting a 3 point mount. Deere is neither, and is sturdy without losing clearance.

Now the added strength of the BH90 may well be worth the loss in clearance for one, while the JD48 might be just the ticket to maintain the clearance and still be adequate strength...

maybe.

Kudos to you (and Carver) in the great chart!

Hi...

Thanks for the heads-up on the skid steer attachment weights... I don't plan on using any right now... the Kubota L723 loader lift capcity is 1,400 to 1,870 pounds...

I don't think ground clearance (much anyway) is lost with the frame mount Kubota BH90 backhoe... it is lost with the Woods hoe per a dealer I talked with... the L3130 tractor has 14.2 inches of clearance...

Mike, I have experience with neither and can say that both the 48 from Deere and the BH90 form Kubota look quite well built. Clearance seemed comparable. My only experience with backhoes is on industrial hoes.

Even if the only attachment you use with the QA is a set of lift forks it would be well worth your while. The extra load lift ability by moving the forks back towards the pivot point as opposed to those that mount to the front of the bucket would increase tremendously. You can also purchase adapter plates that you could retrofit to many attachments to allow the QA funtion to be used. If it's something you might do, I'd go for the QA.

Yeah, I might be thinking about an issue that was with another hoe...

I got to buy my hoe without seeing one (which seems to be pretty common) I AM glad that it doesn't eat up ground clearance, and it sounds like the BH90 would do fine!

Don't get me wrong...I have and love the QA on the loader....can change from bucket to forks, forks to grapple, etc. in less than a minute...

Just wanted to point out that the forks for QA will run $400-$800 dollars because of the supply and demand, seems like everyone around here has a skid steer...

And all those "neat" looking attachments that you see at the equipment/rental places are probably too heavy to be used on the smaller tractor/FEL setups... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

If I remember correctly, I compared the 4310 to Kubota's 3430 due to similar engine displacement and HP. For some reason, Kubota compares their tractors to smaller displacement competition.
If you want more weight, go with Kubota. If you are going to be mowing or treading on muddy ground, I think less weight is an advantage. Kubota weighs about 400 lbs more.
Ultimately, I chose my 4310 due to my local dealer's price and reputation. Haven't been let down so far.
I've dogged mine hard and it has held up well.
Also, I'm glad I spent the money on Hydrostatic. Worth every penny...Good luck...Kyle
