Have trouble starting my 5425. Dealer says to bleed lines of air. I do it according to the instructions, but usually only is ok for a couple days, then have to do it again....any help appreciated. I gave up on my Dealer.

Maybe those true blue Deere people would tell him to go back to the Deere dealer.

I had a Yanmar doing something like that. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was a loose connection somewhere in the fuel lines. Maybe the fuel filter or a line to it. There isn't enough pressure to make a noticable leak on that side but it could "suck" air.

The fuel cap has to be slightly loose to let air into the tank.

If it's too tight this might starve the engine, or else air might be drawn past the filter bowl o-ring if it is aging and stiff.

if it's really an air problem and not something else then checking and maybe replacing the fuel lines, and that o-ring, should fix it.

I hade this same problem with me 5425 (only had it about 2 years).

My 5425 had been stalling. Would run 5 min or so and want t quit. I drained fuel filter and found algee. I drained fuel system, blew lines, filter fuel, biocide etc...... bleed the air at filter and injector pump. Started 5-10 sec and quit. Repeated several times, same result. Tightened lines, etc. Same result. After hours of trying different things....

We found air leaking at bleeder screw on fuel filter. We put an o-ring on it and solved problem. Air was leaking ar bleeder. Thats a plastic screw. Not sure if there was ever a seal/washer/o-ring on it. I don't think there was since I bought it.

This may have been the problem the whole time, before I found the algee. But, I do have a clean fuel system now.

I know this is old thread. But I found it and thought I would leave this here for someone else to find.
