Deere not so much

Did you say 3 days, and then 1 more? This is there busy season, with both ag and lawn equipment. I’d be a little more patient.

My grandfather always told me you have to have two mowers. 1 to use while the other was in the shop.
Had a guy drop off his Echo chainsaw yesterday afternoon with no fire. And called today about 2 to see if it was done yet. No regard for the pressure washer, 4 chainsaws, 10 chains to sharpen, the leaf blower, the Honda TRX500 for service, 3 riding mowers and 2 SxS that are ahead of him.

Clear communication to the customer, letting them know it'll be a minute before their equipment gets worked on, might clear a lot of this up.

I don't know about your shop, but the Deere chain here views keeping this information from the customer as sacrosanct. The last independent dealer in driving distance fell to them last year.

United Ag & Turf is an absolute **** show.

It is not just Deere. Patience is a virtue when dealing with repair shops. Commercial customers using the equipment to make a living usually come first. Most ag dealers are behind this time of year with haying and crop production going on. Lost a seal and smoked the gearbox on the deck for my F2560. Took a week for the Kubota shop to look at it, found metal in the gearbox. New gearbox on order, another week or 2 to get parts in and get it replaced. Bush Hog 6' cutter has been at the Bush Hog dealer for 2 weeks, maybe will get looked at this week. Also, both dealers have signs out looking for help. After buying a new Land Price RCF2072 cutter I now have 2 mowers and 2 cutters, so I am not without one. Can't afford to get behind in mowing, place looks like hell, Momma is not happy.

True, but how many customers would drop their items off after normal hours on Saturday and then expect it to be done on Sunday.

Idiots find a way to create an exception to every rule.

Feels like in today’s world, it’s better to have 2 older proven units than one new overcomplicated unit.

I also have worked in shops and have experienced customers with zero patience. They can be trying at times.

The Deere equipment I have owned has been great. Sad to see what they are doing. I went to a Deere dealer to look at a new R-20 field mower. Guy in service took me aside and told me I'd be better off finding a clean/used CX/HX-20.

1. Elimination of small dealers
2. Exporting of manufacturing for cheaper labor, but no price reduction for buyer.
3. DEI nonsense
4. Electronics inaccessible by owners

John Deere says it will no longer sponsor “social or cultural awareness” events, becoming the latest major US company to distance itself from diversity and inclusion measures after being targeted by conservative backlash.

The Moline, Illinois-based John Deere added “the existence of diversity quotas and pronoun identification have never been and are not company policy.”

Maybe JD realized that the plants in Mexico, where they moved their work from the U.S., don't buy into the DEI?

Who cares why they did it.
The fact that they did it is news, that some people didn't get.

Too little. Too late.
Go woker
Go broker.
All JD did along with BudLight is make the alphabet people and conservatives mad.

I can understand your fustration with pricing, and I can assure that what the dealer is charging is in line with what it would cost to get your vehicle worked on at the dealer, as well as what it would cost to have it towed in. Now don't totally blame parts cost on the dealer. They have some say in what they charge, but keep in mind the mother OEM is setting the MSRP and then the dealer discount is based off of that price structure. So OEM company can suggest a $50 MSRP but then will tell the dealer this is what you are going to pay us for the part. So a $50 part could cost the dealer $35-45 based on the discount codes.
And if you would study what goes into the labor rate I think you will find that it isn't as profitable as it sounds on the surface. A $25/hour employee with vacation, workmans comp, health insurance, taxes paid by the employer, utilities, and buildng upkeep can turn that $25/hour into $75/hour very quickly.
Randy T ,I am well aware of what you are trying to state and how to run a company because I own one myself! However the average Mark up from a wholesaler should be no more than 50% and as I stated the John Deere by me is much more than that. Also as I stated there should never be a few of $130.00 to pick up equipment that is only approx a few miles away from there location do the math that is TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR! I am a field service TECHNICIAN and hire field TECHNICIANS to go out and service equipment and I have to also pay them hourly as well as all the other things you mentioned and your math is way off. It is pretty obvious you are not an owner of a company and you clearly did not understand the concept of what I was trying to get across. There is a difference between profit, greed, and extorting prices to the public! Learn to comprehend what you read!

I will leave you with this. I understand your fustration with the pricing. But I can also guarantee that the prices that you are complaining about are cheap compared to the prices in my area. I am looking at $125-175/hr labor rates, and $200 pickup plus field service call charges. I can understand complaining about charging $130 to pick up a small piece of equipment and sounds high and prevents the majority of calls to pick up lawnmowers that could be accomplished with a pickup and landscape trailer, but I bet the price also applies to a $250K piece of equipment that requires a 18 wheeler with wide load signage and pilot escort.

And part of the pricing issue comes from self induced red tape like the JD dealer in Wisconsin has to contact the corporate headquarters in Assumption, IL to have a truck dispatched to pickup a tractor from a farmer in Wisconsin and deliver it to the Wisconsin dealer for repairs.

And yes I have been an OWNER for 26 years.

Yanmar built tractors for JD.. I still own and use a 1977 Yanmar model today. Yanmar/Deere YM2500/850 the only difference is the PTO Gearing. No need to Have A 4Spd. PTO. in the US.. YM2000 3Spd. JD240 2Spd. Everything Else is pretty much the same. The hand throttle is about it. Both Yanmar models are true Rice Patti Tractors.
And They had it painted Grn..
