I emailed off more pics and measurements to the folks at ETA today, they sent me a couple emails first thing this morning to follow up. Anyone else with a SSQA adapter on a tractor loader run in to similar issues with clearance between the adapter and plate? If anyone is willing to chime in with a depth measurement on the adapter end (male) where it contacts the (female) end of the plate on the attachment or bucket.

The SSQA adapter for the 7310 loader came yesterday from WR Long. I mounted it up today, I had the ears cut off my 7' bucket and the SSQA plate welded on today. Just got in from putting the bucket on. Man is that a lot easier.<snip>

Would you share the cost or time involved for cutting off the ears and welding a SSQA plate on? I'm trying to justify a plasma cutter and every little bit adds up. Cutting off the ears definitely sounds like a job for a plasma cutter.

Been looking at this approach for my L3200 stock pin-on bucket. I thought it would just be ears getting cut off, but upon closer examination there is an angle iron across the back (between ears) as a brace, and several thick plate reinforcements (below/around ears). All of that would have to come off, and that starts to look like a major PITA. After welding the QA plate on, I'd need to reinforce the top, as QA plates are about 2-2.5" taller than the back of the stock pin-on bucket, so I'd need a piece that bridges from the top of the QA plate to the top curled edge of the bucket. Now that I am doing the math, it seems like a real project just to reuse the bucket....

It would be much easier to make adapters with ears that pin to the bucket ears, and then weld the QA to the adapters. But that adds another 2-3" of lever arm on top of what the QA system will add, which is a notable increase over the stock pin-on arrangement and will surely reduce lifting capability.

I remember seeing an ad on craigslist of a local dealer with brand new quick attach buckets in the $500 range that might be an option for you

Good eyes my friend, that's the first I've heard of that, ETA didn't mention it when ordering, I'll have to ask. I will say that Travis at ETA has been very good in staying on top of things.

One other thing that I thought of, you could go to some rental places and skid steer dealers and measure their adapter plates to see how many won't work on your QA.

Here is a modified pallet fork frame that I didn't measure, forgot about it, don't use it now.

It would work on your QA.

Your'e welcome. Since you probably have never been to a skid steer dealer, I think most have attachments that they rent. I know the Bobcat dealers do, that is how I found out about my Monster Grapple and brush hog, from two different dealers.
