you can rent a large truck from Penske or Ryder , you dont need a CDL but if your business owned and operated the same type of vehicle, you would need that license.

deciding which is a commercial vehicle is where the question is, your one ton may be considerd commercial when you register it but that doesn't mean you need a l
CDL.
exceptions abound..
The exceptions are the problem. If a vehicle needs a CDL then it should apply to ALL drivers, not exempt the RV, the farmer, the hobby excavator, etc. I worry about the big RV 5th wheel pulling a boat weaving all over the freeway not the professional trucker who has the proper training and decent equipment. ( yes, I carry a CDL class AT )
