I thought it was also frame size. My New Holland TC18 is a class 1 CUT so aren't the TC21,23,24 and TC 26. They are bigger than the TZ series.

Ya got CUT listed 2x... 'UT' fro utility should be between CUt and AG.

scut were physically "riding lawnmower" size

CUT (class 2) is slightly larger

CUT (class 3) is slightly larger than class 2... the largest of these some consider to be small AG tractors.

a small AG tractor is usually heavyer than the bigest CUT dispite physical size and HP numbers being very simular.

(as im a NH guy) the smallest "AG" tractor that i know of would start in the TN series. TA/TC series being CUT's and TZ's being SCUT

To throw little curve into this convo, frame size is not necessarily the best way to differentiate between a SCUT & CUT as the largest of Kubota's BX class (SCUT) are heavier and have more HP than the smallest of Kubota's B class (CUT).

ALL SCUTS have the shorter (26") rear wheels which lends them to have a shorter ground clearance than the CUTS. This leads them to having shorter/smaller implements for the 3PH. CUTS will also have higher numbers in both their 3ph & FEL lifting capacities, partly because they sport larger wheels to support the added weight and more often they have additional hydraulic pumps that increases GPM.

On the plus side for the SCUTS, they excel at finish mowing and this is their primary function. Their smaller wheels are easier on turf and provide for tighter turning and their MMM's (mowers) generally provide a nicer finish cut than a CUT's.

A good rule of thumb is:
Go with a SCUT if finish mowing is primary and ground engagement is secondary,
-or-
Go with a CUT if ground engagement is primary and finish mowing is secondary.

Course theres always exceptions.....

Thank you so very much everybody it gives me hope for the human race that people are so willing to help total strangers.
Great advice. Here is the only one in my area on cl that I can afford, what do you think:
kubota B6100 4x4
Thanks so much!

The link does not list the hours on the tractor and it is an older Kubota, not a problem if it has been serviced regularly and well-maintained throughout its life. It seems as little high for what it is, but markets vary.

I agree, pretty high!

You need to look farther away from Asheville, everything is going to be higher there.
