jag, ( can i guess what jag is for) like i said, only my opinion but when you turn on the tv and james sakolove is explaining the symptoms of the latest class action suit he is promoting so you can determine if youve been exposed/wronged, SOMETHING IS WRONG! not all lawyers are like that but there are entirely too many that are and you and i pay their high settlements thru our purchases. as it stands now you can basically sue anyone for anything with the intentions of costing them enough money defending themselves to make them want to settle rather than fight it. out of court settlements are gravy for them. there should be a system that forces the party who files a suit to be liable for the expenses of the defendant if they are found not at fault in a lot of these fishing trips that some lawyers file. again just my opinion and thanks for letting me voice. freedom of speech is one of many things that makes this country great............Paul /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Sorry jagmandave, I've got to disagree....

Sure they are doing thier job, but who comes up with the ideas to sue over an old lady spilling coffee in her lap? I doubt she spilt it and decided to hire a lawyer. I'd bet someone whispered in her ear that she could get rich......

They are "mostly" vultures. Looking for a challenge because the same old speeding ticket or abuse case is just boring.

As for the judges, they are just ruling on the case from the information given. It is the lawyers job to manipulate the system to his clients advantage by finding loopholes in the law. If the judge cannot dispute his case, he wins...

Everything in this country is suceptible to inflated prices as mentioned earlier. Insurance to protect against lawsuits and outgoing payments for lost lawsuits make up a great deal of this.

Again, I believe this describes most lawyers. There are certainly a few honest ones out there who are genuinly interested in doing the right thing. Its just the bad apples that effect the rest of us...

Wow what a topic.

I have a few comments.

1) I have nothing against labor. Most of my family is "labor". Meaning something other than white shirts. Blue Collar if you will.

2) Do you want to live in the US or another Country? What we define as poverty in the US is better than 85% of most third world countries. Where many of our jobs go. I am not saying move. Think about the standard of living. Understand what it means to compete. (Not insulting anyone here.)

3) If you signed a contract you should get your due, however, money is finite. When it runs out it is out. The Management Laborer battle line, does not help keep it available. That only prevents it from surviving. Management doesnt respect it's laborers, it's laborers hate the management, and the conflict escelatesuntil, well, productivity is down, profits are down, everything is gone.....

Americans need to be carefull. We with or without realizing it feel there is an entitlement to a good job, food, cars etc....

Those at the top dont stay at the top, unless they are willing to work smarter, work harder, work longer, and work better than those below them. There are other countries gunning for us. We need to make sure we dont lose sight of that as a country.

If you were a line worker in China how much would you be making ? If you were in charge of the line in China ?, How about the plant manager ?
