Detroit diesel problem

Hello, this sounds like the trouble I had with my mf 135. The cause was a small filter in the fuel tank was partly blocked. You couldn't see it through the fuel cap hole.
The solution was as Plumbstraight says with the compressed air, blow back into the tank and this clears the blockage to get mobile .( NB take the fuel cap off first). A permanant fix in my case required cleaning the fuel tank. Good Luck.

well, I got the line from the tank to the first filter primed and sure enough she started right up. thanks guys!

Glad to hear it Chris. How'd you get it primed?

Put a check valve on that line between the tank and first filter (or a shutoff valve) and you'll never have trouble again.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. The original problem definitely sounds like fuel starvation. Is it still acting up now that you've changed filters and got it re-primed? For what it's worth none of my Detroits have ever gelled.
