My main point for posting was to pass along how to get a good deal on one of these.

I didn't mean for it to turn into a my coupler is better than your coupler pissing match but that's just how some folks roll on forums.

Wasn't directed at any one person.

I was as guilty as anyone for participating. Things just drift in that direction sometimes.

For the record: I own a Loc-n-Lube. I'm just not that crazy about it and I don't use it often.

I'm waiting for Ryobi to get off their *** & release a One+ grease gun. Have 8-10 One+ batteries between the house & shoop. Passed 20 One+ tools last I counted. I love having multiple drills & impact drivers so I don't have to change bits on a project.

I'm with you brother. I just bought my father a 41/2" angle grinder for his birthday and would love to find a grease gun that at least used those batteries, even if it wasn't a Ryobi branded gun.

2nd Choice would be the Bosch 18V batteries, as I have some of their tools but they generally stay with me where as the Ryobi stuff stays in Dad's shop.

I'm not against buying another brand, but right now between the two of us we have 3-4 different brand cordless tools in 3 different voltages - getting to be a pain in the @$$ to keep up with all the batteries & chargers.

I guess this is another reason I held off. I am going to have to face the fact that my Craftsman C3 stuff will not continue to evolve and move on. This DeWalt purchase will serve as the beginning of that process.

TSC flyer just arrived with Dewalt 20V grease gun for 179.95. Twenty bucks less than Amazon.
But.....for two volts less, with no other Dewalt cordless equipment, and fairly low volume, why not spend
less and get this:

Amazon.com: DEWALT DCGG57B 18V Cordless Grease Gun: Home Improvement

Save fifty bucks and not sure one gives up anything. Thoughts?

oops, never mind, bare tool. Back to research...

I think the 18v models have nicad batteries.

I think the 18v models have nicad batteries.

And, supposedly they are a different battery, not the standard Dwalt 18V nicad, but it is variable speed as opposed to single (12V model) or 2 speed (20V model) from what I see, so that may be a plus, or not?

<snip>Between my loader, backhoe, mower, and the tractor itself, I have 40-50 zerks, and I never want to do it manually again!
How many zerks per week do you need to grease?
I've only about (WAG) 30 to do twice a year.

That seems a poor reason to buy into a battery platform. I added up what I've got in DeWalt 20V Max and I'm invested to about the tune of 3K, and they still don't make a 20V MAX chainsaw or decent string trimmer (guard is to small).

Use an adapter and 20V max batteries.

I think the 18v models have nicad batteries.
Buy the adapter, DEWALT DCA182 Dewalt Battery Adapter for 18V Tools, 2V - - Amazon.com. I picked mine up, for about $25 on sale, just ina case I "need" to but some 18V tools off CL.

Remember, you are buying into a "platform". Which means you need compatible batteries and chargers, which often cost as much as the bare tool.
