Dewalt Cordless Grease Gun Deal

All I can say is I'm still using the old fashioned grease gun. I used to haul grain for a guy during harvest. He had one he got thru John Deere and he loved it. I thought he was just "trying to keep up with the jones's" so to speak. He said if I ever owned one I'd never go back to an old fashioned one. I guess they are the in thing now and everybody wants one.

Nothing wrong with hand pumps. Thing is the battery powered ones just work so much better and save much time and aggravation that they are well worth it. I, like many, used to despise greasing time. Now with a lock-n-lube equipped Dewalt it is almost fun. To put it in perspective, I still have a couple of hand grease guns, I also still have a handsaw, but the times I reach for it is rare. Actually, the times I reach for the regular old electric skillsaw is now rare since I have a Dewalt 20v skillsaw which is far more handy for my typical uses. Same goes for drills and impacts too

As of this writing Amazon Amazon.com: DEWALT DCGG571B 2-volt MAX Lithium Ion Tool Only Grease Gun: Home Improvement has it for $165.60 with maybe another $25 off.

That is tool only without battery or case. This one states that clearly in the ad title but some of these tool only ads are hard to tell the difference so watch careful before ordering online.

And, supposedly they are a different battery, not the standard Dwalt 18V nicad, but it is variable speed as opposed to single (12V model) or 2 speed (20V model) from what I see, so that may be a plus, or not?

I bought a bare tool 18v Nicad from Runnings. I am pretty sure it was on a DeWalt sale for $99. I had batteries and several other 18v already. Plenty battery for private use. I like the gun, it pumps grease like nuts, and is totally variable speed. Well built, and plenty of power.

I just purchased the Dewalt 18 volt cordless greasegun after the rave reviews and I can't get the thing primed. I have opened the purge valve with no result. What's the secret?

I recently bit the bullet and purchased the same gun. I purchased the one without battery given I have limited myself to only 20V Dewalt purchases and have several batteries.

I haven't used it yet, given I just did my 'fall grease up' which was WHY I decided to go ahead and purchase one. Up to that time, I've been using a Lincoln one hand grip model, which works fine, but becomes a royal pain when doing any major greasing.

I had to pump the cartridge rod a few times, then mine picked up prime right away.
Odd that the rod doesn't go into the unit like other guns, this one seems to show the amount of grease left by sticking out so far.

Problem solved. I removed the filter where the cartridge screws into the gun and filler that cavity with grease and all is well. This tool appears to be a real time saver.

The rod stores in the grease. Might have to twist it back/forth a bit.
