Did anyone look at a Kubota MX5100HST and choose Deere instead?

I wonder if they mount the seats sideways on the Orange ones, so you can sit comfortably as you sit sideways on your tractor all day reaching for the brake pedal!

My seat swivels from side to side in my Kubota...... really make me feel comfortable when using my box blade, I operate a D6R at my work and sometime a D8R, wonder why in the world CAT the biggest "heavy machinery" manufacturer would ever put a seat in some of their machines that is turned to the right?

OH and for the record i dont CROSS MY LEGS like some of you may think.......

Nothing like having a feature there strictly for specs that you can't actually use!

If Kubota could figure out how to build a stronger starter and battery they wouldn't need a clutch between the engine and hydro...JD got rid of them in the 70's. Or maybe Kubota is just saving money, versus JD building dedicated Hydro and Gear drivetrains that actually make the customer more productive.

*stirs pot*

I use the split brakes all the time... doing landscaping /yard installation on my place. Mostly when back dragging the front end loader bucket. This usually makes the front wheels very light, so the need for the brakes to help steer.
They also are a big help when plowing to help keep the tractor pointed in the right direction in mud, ice, or sand, etc. What sold me on the Deere(2520) was the brakes being on the left side. Since I'm building several hundred feet of retaining walls, being able to creep up to the drop off and have one foot on the brake and the other on the throttle really makes me feel more secure doing it. As I can stop at the edge of the precipitace, hold the brake while reversing or inching closer without taking my foot off the brake .On the kubota, there's a split second I would have been vulnerable when reaching for the reverse pedal after letting go of the brake. But i really wanted the 3 spd hydro of the kubota (2620 or 2630)

That sold me on the JD 2520 as well and will agree the the JD probably has the better setup on the "smaller" CUT tractors as there is no room on the smaller Kubotas to use your left foot for the split brakes, but I think the OP is referring to the larger size (JD 4k series and Kubota M series) tractors and IMHO I feel the Kubota should not be over looked due to the brakes being on the right side, im very happy with my decision going with Kubota and I feel very comfortable on the tractor. PLEASE dont take my posts the wrong way guys, When I use my left foot to operate the split brakes I am really at home on the tractor because of my job operating heavy machinery, when I operate our CAT and JOHN DEERE backhoes at work the pedal configuration is the SAME and I use my left foot to operate the split brakes witch are directly under the steering wheel (not on the left) and the accelerator pedal is on the right so you need your right foot to give them fuel and (when needed) your left foot to operate the split brakes and this is why I like the LARGER size Kubota tractors because I have plenty of leg room to use my left foot, PLUS and VERY nice feature is the seat on my tractor swivel's left and right giving me the option to swivel the seat to the right further allowing for more room.

...... Ok guys im done on my soap box now, carry on fellas and have fun!

The hydro disconnect petal assists the cold weather starting on a tractor which is why many companies still use them.

I've yet to see a deere start on as cold of a day as a Kubota.

There are differences as to tractor balances and I've seen many tractors slide the front end rather then turn knowing what the issues are and why they aren't turning.

I do realize we are all proud of our tractors but there are differences no matter what color they are!

Blah, Blah Blah, my tractor starts better than your tractor, My tractor turns sharper than your tractor, My brake pedal is in the best place, Your tractor isn't as safe as mine, my hemoeroids hurt worse than yours. Too much fun, what a great read !!!

So, after I polished the bottom side of my left sided brake pedals, I also stayed at a Holiday Inn that night.

And it's still cold as heck outside tonight. 20 Degrees and blowing.
