Hey everybody.
I bought a cushion valve from Surplus item #9-4019-50-L, for the auger attachment on my Bobcat 753, 14 GPM auxiliary system. It starts and stops really hard, even popping a hose once. I didn't realize when I purchased the cushion valve that they had 2 different pressure ranges. The valve I bought was for 500 to 1500 PSI range, and I'm thinking the other valve they had, which was 1500 to 3000 PSI range, was maybe the one I should have purchased. My question is, what would be the effects of the two different range valves and how would each act/react to the auger application I need it for. I'm a learning novice here, so if you're inclined to answer, just keep at 5th grade level. Ha Ha! Thanks a bunch guys. memphismark

Whenever your pressure developed by the auger gets to 1500 psi, it will relieve.

If you want full power, get the 3000 psi unit.

Your auger should have a motor spool valve or a double relief valve.

This valve or the 3/4 ports valve.

I do have a motor spool valve now and I didn't have one before the upgrade to cushion valve. Now that I have the motor spool, do I even need the cushion valve? Thanks JJ>

Is the motor spool valve spring to center or shift and hold.

Does the motor spool valve have a relief?

What pressure rating on the hyd motor.and pump?

Valve is detent, shift and hold
Motor spool has relief
Unfortunately I have no idea about the pressure rating for motor and pump. Motor is inside a large steel housing for the auger and I can't see any info, and the pump is part of the Bobcat system and my manual doesn't include any specs for it other than 12 GPM. Thnx.

You need to know the pressure for both in case the motor is say a 1500 psi motor and the pump is a 2500 psi pump.

If that were the case, you would set the motor valve relief to 1450 psi.

You could check out the pressure with a 3000 psi hyd gage in a tee installed in the IN port of the auger valve.

An auger does not turn that fast so you could get by with a spring to center valve if you move the lever slowly back to neutral.

The double relief is just extra protection.

You might consider going to smaller font for your post.

Referring briefly back to my original question, being that my cushion valve is max 1500PSI, does that mean any auger operating pressure over 1500 PSI will start to bleed pressure down and possibly loose 'grunt' power at the auger? I've always wondered about the effects of relief valves once they reach their bleed point. I've really got to get this thing under load with a tee'd pressure gage and find out exactly what my newer working pressure is. Thanks
ps. Grandson say's large font will get me noticed and possibly an answer sooner. Maybe it's just annoying!!! Kids......

If your motor is actually rated for 3000 psi, then you will lose about half of your force.

A 10 cu in hyd motor, at 3000 psi has a force of 4,777 in lbs.

A 10 cu in hyd motor , at 1500 psi has a force of 2,389 in lbs.

A normal font would be ideal.

I think a skid steer auger would have that built in.

A cushion valve would be used to protect a hyd motor or a cyl.

The control valve has a relief valve for the pump.
