Its buyer beware at auctions. Yes, you should have looked more closely at the RTV and set your max bid accordingly. Since it's a diesel and as long as it runs good enjoy it. I would change all the fluids to be safe.
I have been to many auctions and found lots of people don't do their research ahead of time and pay too much. At one auction years ago I saw an 18 year old tractor with over 4000 hours (26HP CUT) sell for $9500 plus commission (over 10K total). The tractor needed some repairs and was only worth about 6K. At another auction I saw 2 used PJ trailers sell for more than retail and both needed parts too.
Agree ! I once saw a man trying to sell his mother in law at a livestock auction as an older goat !
When it was discovered I believe deputy's hauled him off for fraud.
