Is this the next First Choice MFG? I guess we need to ask Ken Sweet for validation of this rumor since he always ask us for a validation.

I got a super deal on my First Choice, drop shipped to me. It was apparently made by Midwest. In any case, it came orange and I love it and it works great and is by far better than any other aerator I have seen at 5 times the price I paid.
Ok, will Midwest please make a 54 inch field cutter (or brush cutter), like a brush hog but intended for grass and small saplings, higher blade speed etc? J

I got a new 48 and a 60 inch left over from our annual clearance sale--They were display models and did not get switched off our retail lot and replaced with fresh, until it was too late. Paint is faded pretty bad--Big Bee Brand, Estate Mowers, Made in Red Bay Al.--The configuration is: 2 tailwheels--antiscalp roller in the front and gerbox that runs 1/3 faster that a normal "Brush Hog" type machine--Priced at below cost--Ken Sweet

Re: Aerator

whats a good amount of weight to add to the 48'' aerator?

Re: Aerator

Re: weight on the aerators

I think technically the best is to add a "variable load" to the aerator. This way, the tines will roll into the turf at various depths so that less and less soil compaction can occur. Ok, the compaction by the soil can be considered as negligible especially if it is a core plug hallow tine aerator, but I think adding variable load will be still helpful to the turf. Don't you think so? Jim? But how will a variable load be added to the aerator? I'm thinking again and I have a simple idea. A simple spring attached to the tractor will vibrate and will apply an irregular (not periodic) force on the aerator. Or, water box simply put on the aerator will apply a variable load.
