If you go to check the oil in your tractor and the dipstick moves, you might just find out what your own fluid levels are.

Notice the warning signs on the tractor? I didn't have any problem keeping my hands out of the fan.

And I checked my Operators Manual for "additional information," but it didn't tell me anything about getting rid of this problem. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So I got a 3' stick and forcefully evicted Mr. Rat Snake, but he wanted to go back into the tractor.

Because I wouldn't let him return, he went into a blind rage and started chasing and biting at anything that moved. I'd use the stick to pitch him about 10' away from me and he'd turn and come for me no matter what direction I went in. It was really comical. He wanted a "piece of me" really bad.

I threatened him with a stick and flicked dirt in his face for over 20 minutes before he became exhausted from the effort of coiling and striking. Finally, he gave up and climbed a tree. It was like he figured out that if he left me alone, I'd leave him alone and we'd go our separate ways in peace.

I haven't had this much fun since I was a kid and used to catch snakes and take them to school in a paper lunch bag. Set the bag out on the playground and just wait for someone to pick it up. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Great pics. What a surprise.

The 'take 'em to school' thing is something I did too. Let one loose in the top center desk drawer of the typing teacher, and waited for her to do the normal 'sit in the chair, open desk drawer, take out assignment book, etc.' and then find the snake. Nothing happened. About mid class, a blood curdling scream came forth, as she opened a side drawer to get a kleenex, and the snake came out and slithered across the room. Out she went to the principals office, who happened to be her husband. Soon after he came into the room with a frown on his face, closed the door behind him and broke out in side-busting laughter. Guess he was amused by her reaction in his office. Anyway, he spoke my name and said "get that thing out of here". Guess he knew who it was or who would do such a thing. Not sure which. That's just one of the snake stories.

Only if it makes you "wet" your pants and then slip in the puddle on the floor. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim, I never set one out to surprise anyone, but I did take just a little snake to school one day. One of the female teachers wanted to know what it felt like, but every time she'd start to touch it with one finger, it would move and she'd jerk her hand back, so when she looked away, I just laid it across her arm. I would have never thought about her being able to scream that loud. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Bird
That was similar to another snake I took, and carried it into the History class teacher (tall redhead). She was interested in what I had wrapped around my wrist, and when she saw the tail move, she asked "Is that real?" and the Science teacher standing there said "Of course it is!". Such a blood curdling scream she made and ran out onto the second floor fire escape. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Priceless experience. (Are we related? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif )

My mother was one person who would lose all control of bodily functions if she was scared by a snake. Since she was so frightened of them, I knew there would be heck to pay if I ever turned one loose on a teacher and word got back to her.

I did take an envelope marked "snake eggs" into class one day when I was in junior high. I made a U-shape out of a piece of coat hanger and stretched a rubber band between the legs of the "U" with a button threaded on the rubber band. I wound up the button on that rubber band nice and tight and slipped it down into the envelope so it would stay in place.

I put it on top of my desk and waited for someone to ask to look at the eggs. I got my toy taken away from me after several kids almost came unglued when they just started to open the envelope, and that button unwound with a loud buzz/rattle. I think I've seen something similar sold in a novelty store. I can't remember where I got the idea, but it sure worked. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

There'd be no fluid to check the levels on if that was me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

INSPECTOR: you saying that you're fluids would have leaked out on the floor after seeing that? LOL /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh yep sounds just like something I would have done in school. I usually got the end of the stick one way or the other regardless . /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif my closest & longest friend in school and I did something similar in 6th grade using about 500 grass hoppers @ lunch /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My sister was a snake scared person, and we got her good once, tied a rubber snake to a fish pole, and placed it under the cabage leaves. too bad she had a hoe, that poor rubber snake never stood a chance! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif one tug of the fish line run under the ground cover and she was like a ninga with that garden hoe, not sure how she managed to scream so loud whilst chopping & running for the hills like that hahaha.

I agree lucky for that snake the oil cheack was needed/done by ya.! amaizing pics though with the strike & the climbing ...

Jim when you saw him in the fan you might have really surprised him by turning the key. I'll bet he would have really been mad then..... Minced rat snake.

EDIT: I also think some of you guys that lose your tractors to your wives ought to print Jim's pictures and leave them by the computer where your wife is sure to see them. I'll bet the wife sets her tractor key on top of the pictures after she sees the snake. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim, excellent photos! I borrowed your first one to aid Mikim with theft deterrent. I have always wanted to get the photo of a snake striking, yours is perfect. Something tells me the snake will be back on the tractor again. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
