The Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal is my favorite instant oatmeal.

Dan, I don't know about you, but I use milk instead of water in my oats, and I want real milk, too, not any of the low fat or skimmed stuff. And adding a couple of tablespoonsful of honey makes it even better, but I've about quit doing that, too.

A GALLON of coffee...I would be running for the bathroom most of the morning if I drank that much !!!

Not all in one sittin. Takes me all morning to finish it off, usually last cup's just before lunch.

Amazes me how many of the members responding to this thread say they have oatmeal...I have always hated the stuff and always will. Guess you guys need the fiber, huh... Was talking to one of my older lady friends today about this thread, she has gastric bypass about 2 years ago and consumes a lot of greek yogurt, and unlike me using berries, she adds Grape Nuts to hers. More fiber, huh?

I had part of a leftover Reuben sandwitch.

I love Rueben sandwiches, probably my favorite. I just have coffee. I have resisted my uncle's favorite breakfast.... Coffee with a little butter and whiskey in it every morning.

Everyday: one egg, one bacon, one toast (whole wheat) and coffee. In addition, one day a week: yellow hominy grits.

I'm retired now. During most of my 40+working career, I got up at 5 AM and I was gone before daylight. My dear wife has always prepared my breakfast every morning.

I used to love
3 eggs with salsa beaten-in then scrambled. Eliminates need yo worry about sticking/dryness. When near done:

Turn off the heat, corral the eggs to the center of the pan, cover with a slice of sharp Cheddar, and cover the entire pan with one of the plates from which you'll dine.

While the cheese is melting:
Toast nice bread brushed lightly with olive oil. Once toasted, drizzle lightly with honey.

Get coffee in the cup, plate the food, and look the whole thing over to see what it needs. To MY taste, it needs nothing because the salsa I mix in brings all the spice needed.

That's a big meal, so for me, no dinner but supper as I wish.

Have any of you ever tried rice and scrambled eggs. Cook your rice the night before and keep it in the fridge. I usually put about a half cup 1% milk whipped with three eggs. Amd toss in a medium high heat skillet. As the eggs start to thicken I add about a. Cup of rice. Salt and pepper to taste. The kids put katsup on it. I tried it. Not bad but salt and pepper is good enough.

That sounds healthy to me. My morning meal is 2-3 (depending on size) free range eggs fresh from the chicken, fried in bacon fat along with 3-4 thick slices of bacon(sometimes 2 sausage patties) and homemade biscuits with real butter on them. Sometimes I will make a side order of grits or hash brown potatoes and always at least an 8 oz glass of orange juice and 2 large mugs of coffee. Then I am good with just a sandwich for lunch and whatever the wife decides to cook for dinner.

Gary I had about decided there was a reason so many live in the Doctors office. eating but little fruit and about the same for something to drink.

Day starts at five and a full meal of eggs meat and biscuits with gravey. and so far the hand full of medicine isn't needed. can go all day with out stopping but wife's call at noon with lunch ready same thing happens at 5 p.m.
And the ice cream snack at 8 p.m. life is good.
Have Danish cousins that eat 5 meals a day with breaks for cake or pie in between. make into the late 90's healthy.
Think the Spring time is over and Summer about to arrive.
Been helping with the tornado damage of last week it has been a mess. here.

I LOVE milk but alas, it does not love me, so I have to take pills to eat dairy. I don't drink milk anymore because of the lactose but I will put milk in food. Oatmeal with milk is far better than using water. :licking::licking::licking: I don't understand drinking low fat or skim milk since it has no flavor to me at all. Might as well just drink water.:laughing::laughing:

Before the lactose limitation hit me, I would drink a gallon of milk every day or two. Not sure how my parents could afford to keep milk in the fridge.:laughing::laughing:

Now, *** I *** have to pay to keep the milk in the fridge for the kids and the milk is not around $2 a gallon anymore!:shocked::shocked:

Later,
Dan
