Oil & Fuel Diesel Gal/Hr

Well Mark I must say your fuel numbers really surprized me. Guess The my next tractor might just have a HST inbetween my legs instead of a glide-shift.
My L-3750 burns on average 1.48 gph but it also has many hours on it.
So as it stands I guess I've got the distiction of the worst gph here.
But when you guys have over seven thousand hours on the meter(7642.3 to be exact)give me your average then and I might be closer.

Gordon - You gotta be kidding!!! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif You've got 7600+ hours on your L3750? Have you owned it since it was new? How about doing us all a favor and starting a new discussion with what maintenance you've had to do (other than routine) in that time?

That is no B. S. Mark and Bird will like this one---I have used Drydine 15/40 now casteroil has bought them out--- dino oil has kept her going all these years..I will do a post on it but it will be a pretty long one. Mabe longer than the hydro top link.
If the mans money is good my L2350 will be sold at the end of this week I will keep my 8n but the L3750 will be traded at the end of this year--if I can get enough out of it.
If I do trade it in it will be one of the few times I will have had tears in my eyes--The other times were 4 childern being born and when a close friend passed away. Lots of memories good and bad thats for sure.

I'm looking forward to it! I'm mostly interested in what, if any, major repairs you've had to make and why. Nothing elaborate. Thanks!

Thanks Mark,

Glad to find out that your tractor is also a miser on diesel. I spend nearly all my time on the tractor at PTO speed, so glad to find out that hours are measured the way I have always seen.

As I remember this discussion the range of fuel consumption was roughly 2:1 and the HP varied about 5:1. Consumption varied from 1/2 gal per hour to 1 gal per hour and HP varied from about 13 to 68. Guess all that says is that Kubota builds some very good engines and we all knew that anyway. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I will only be satisfied when we tear down your engine and determine that Amsoil puts the metal back on the rings and the engines last for 100,000 hours. Your great grandchilderen will still be driving your tractor and marveling that it runs so well. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

The head has never been off more problems with trans. My father drilled into my head change the oil and it will run forever. Not always true but it sure does help. Three key things to diesel's long life clean fuel, clean oil, clean air. He was pretty **** when it came to upkeep I guess some of it rubbed off on me. Except for keeping my truck washed and tractor pressure washed that is./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Long post to follow

The much greater variance between hp than fuel consumption is interesting. Hopefully we'll get more data from other posters as time goes on.

Don't count on me putting too many hours on my tractor. They don't last me too long before I trade up to another one to get some new featues! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Mark when you trade do you leave all your goodies on the tractor or do you strip it down. If you leave it tricked out and get ready to trade let me know. But it's probly to much pocket jingle for me anyway./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gordon - It depends. Next time (assuming there is a next time), it's unlikely I'll take any of the 'goodies' off, because they're not going to fit. I'll let you know. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
