Oil & Fuel Diesel Gal/Hr

Now Mark who are you trying to fool you change tractors pretty darn often thats for sure. But if you do consider a change in the near future I would appreciate a call or e-mail if you think about it. Guess I would have to keep running the fake stuff in it though. I'am curious about how many hours it would take running amsoil before a teardown my tractor is barely broken in and has a small amount of blow by using regular oil. Heck we could trade bet you miss a glide-shift don't you. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Ok, you'll be among the first to know.

But, I don't think I'll take you up on your offer to trade.

M9000 -loader work and rotary cutting uses about 1 1/2 gph

Yes, Tanks are normally sized to ensure that you can go out and work all day and not run out of diesel.

Where this is not done, you have a very unhappy operator as he must now carry additional fuel.

Many tractors can run about 16 hours at pto speed on a tank of diesel, where the older tractors could not get over 10 - 12 hours. Cleaner diesels can be more efficient! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yep the M9000 is a big tractor with a 23.8 gallon tank. It will run a couple of 8 hour days on a tank of diesel also.

Ok, two more fuel consumption figures to report.

The first, 12.0 meter hours (actually 3 days worth) of backhoe work, tree and brush clearing, used 7.0 gallons of fuel, for an average consumption rate of .58 gal/hr.

The second, 19.6 meter hours (actually about 5 days work) of loader, box scraper, and auger work, used 12.4 gallons of fuel, for an average consumption rate of .63 gal/hr.

Mark, that is great! Industry standard would be above 1 g/h diesel for that sized tractor. Kubota squeezes every drop out of the diesel. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I thought my Massey did really well and with a 3cylinder it averaged 1 g/h. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm pleased with the numbers. But just think how much better it would be doing if I didn't have HST, which, as everybody knows, is very inefficient! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Those last numbers of .58 and .63 gph, which represent much smaller samples than the previous average of .60 I reported, actually validate the earlier number, because if you average the two of them, you come back to about the same thing. So, for typical use, I'd say .60 is a good number for mine - and I not going to complain about that.

You have to be pretty good just to read this topic as it goes into la-la land on page 2.

The Kubota engines seem to be very efficient performers. I was scared to death when I researched some of the results of the Nebraska Tractor Tests. Some of these tractors don't do very well. Since the Massey had a good Cummings 3 cyl that got good mileage, I had become spoiled.

A really good rule of thumb is that tractors hold enough for 1 day of hard work because no one is willing to come back from a job to fill up. Since many tractors run at light loads, then this provides enough fuel for 2 days! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

In my case, I filled up on the way to the job site Tuesday morning, put 6 gallons from a can in on Saturday afternoon, then another 6.4 gallons at the pump Sunday evening.

I know one thing: If I ever manage to burn all of the 9.6 gallons (I think) that my L4310HST holds in one day, I'm not going to want to ride that tractor again for a while!
