If they were adding a lead additive, they were wasting their time. !00 LL was only "low lead" in comparison to the old 100 or 100/130 avgas. !00 LL still had about 3 times the lead of the leaded auto fuel of that time. In more recent years, the lead content of 100 LL has been trimmed a bit further, but it still has more leasd than the leaded auto fuel used to have.

Just going by what the guys that ran it at the speedway told me. I never personally ran it in a car, just my RD400.

let's put it this way, without the pressurized cabin at 30,000 feet you are not going to last long..

Just slap on the oxygen and push the yolk forward.... at least that's how it works on the GameBoy!

Well assuming you have the oxygen, yeah all good, but if you have to breath on your own, most of us are going to black out pretty soon, unless you are one of those leather lunged Sherpa's or Andes mountain dweller. Most of us "flatlanders" are not ready for no air.

I would think that the future in propeller aircraft would be going to turbo-prop engines. I suppose the main downfall in small aircraft is cost.

I have smelled the good stuff at a local dragway where they also run those long dragsters that the fire comes out the back and they go darn near 300 mph and then use a parachute to help slow down. Loud! My two boys just loved it when they were younger. Had a blast watching the funny cars etc. :D

Always nice to hear the "EXPERTS" talk about stuff most of us have never heard of!

No wonder aircraft are so darn expensive!

Curious. IF the air at altitude is so thin, do the compressors have to work very hard to compress it to cabin pressure?

The compressed air comes from the jet engines. Small portion of the combustion air is diverted through a bleed valve to the cabin. The cabin has certain calibrated leak so the air (oxygen) is continuously replenished.

That's what I seem to remember hearing at one time. On a two engine a/c, is it taken from both engines? Just wondering about redundency.

Does this count as diesel? It runs on kerosene. Does the 1/4 mile in 5.2 seconds at 300 mph. The most fun I've ever had turning a wrench.
