Same price for each in my area.... $2.64. Would have more closely matched rigustafson price but we got a 10 cent a gallon fuel tax increase this year.

This morning I got diesel for $2.539 at the pump but the sign at the road had $2.599, so it must have gone down today
Regular gas was $2.489.

Didn't know Walmart sold gas. Closest I've seen is the occasional Sam's Club.

Most of the Super Walmarts have a Murphy gas station on property in this area. They got down as low as $2.34, for diesel, a few weeks ago and stayed at $2.45 for a long time.

$1.139 for road diesel and $1.189 for 87 octane . Still doesn't pay to drive a diesel in light duty applications .

I'm confused- if road diesel is actually cheaper than gas, and you get better mileage with a diesel, by a good factor, why doesn't a diesel, in say an auto, make sense? Most diesel autos are delivering 40-50 mpg, compared to 30 for gas, as far as I have read. And diesel torque is good.

Just had 200 gallons of off-road diesel delivered, $2.29/gallon.

Because a tractor working in a HD application at 70,80,90% of full power constantly for hours on end. Is a different than light duty applications where the engine makes 20,30 or 40 % of it's rated power for hours or is used in intermittent putting around applications.
Have you looked at the Nebraska tractor tests for the same diesel operating at 100% power vs 50% power ? The diesel efficiency drops to less than a gasoline engine's efficiency.
