“If you cant dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS”, right?
That's my motto...slightly different though
"If you can't befuddle them with brilliance, baffle them with ********"

That's worked for me for years!!!

Wonder if the mods would let me use that as my signature line?

They’re smarter than you. They went to Ivy league schools or they work for the government ;)
Education in science is still considered important. You think the nuclear physicists working in labs get by on their high school science education? Ivy League schools aren’t really a big credential in the science world. That’s more of a business and law degree thing.

The problem is, your colleagues have been wrong so often and are responsible for so much lies, death & destruction that few people believe them anymore.

Fuel prices are a function of supply and demand.

Supply has been limited for twenty years, only fracking has made new production possible at current prices.

Now Europe is departing its dependence on Russian fuel supplies, creating shortage in affluent markets worldwide. Affluent markets are able to buy where poverty markets are really in a pickle. Malnourishment now, starvation for children and the old soon.

Fuel demand is way up. The airlines can't find enough pilots. Rental cars are over booked. Despite high gas prices, record highway traffic this three-day holiday weekend. Demand for fuel is ROBUST.

At least now you have a choice on whether to buy or not buy at current prices. Your situation is much better than that of the soldiers in muddy holes in Ukraine, opposing the Russian invasion.
(U.S. Navy 1965 - 1971)

The Federal Reserve will eventually choke demand by raising interest rates. Fuel prices will drop. Food prices will likely drop. Home building supplies will drop in price. Unemployment will increase, reducing fuel demand, and changing food demand to less expensive calories in whatever form.

Considering what's going on at the so-called "Ivy League" schools, I expect degrees from those once illustrious colleges won't be worth much pretty soon...
Sad tale...

Not anymore jeff. Fuel is subject to way too much regulation, restriction, taxation and permits to be simply a function of supply and demand.

You can have heavy regulation, heavy taxation and restrictive permits and as long as these restrictions are applied uniformly to all producers, supply and demand functions unimpeded. Certainly, these government interventions increase the net fuel price to consumers, which at some price level, higher than the current price level, will reduce demand by consumers. High fuel prices have not reduced net fuel demand in the USA yet.

You can have heavy regulation, taxation and restrictive permits and as long as these restrictions are applied equally to all producers, supply and demand operates normally. Certainly, these government interventions will increase the net fuel price to consumers, which at some price level, higher than the current price level, will reduce demand by consumers. We are not there yet, AT THIS MOMENT.
Everyone is discussing the supplies/demand of crude oil, but crude supplies are not much different than a few years ago. Something that the fuel price articles point out that isn’t being discussed is the refinery capacity issues. Refineries aren’t able to keep up with the heavy flow of crude oils being supplied, and not all refineries are designed to produce all fuel types. Some articles point out that refinery capacity is currently not at the level of a few years ago. And the reasons are mixed.

And let us not forget the fact that the EPA in all it's infinite wisdom and bureaucratic snafu's has over regulated the refinery industry.

Refineries produce lots of dangerous chemicals and carcinogenic compounds and need to be regulated. They are essential to our society, but sloppy operations aren’t acceptable.
