It sounds like the dealer just didn't want to take the time. Actually I think I had a similar experience come to think of it when I walked into a JD dealership. I purused the lit rack and kicked tires on a X595SE that they had in the showroom. the salesman really acted like he wanted to get back to his little office rather than talk tractors. But really they didn't have anything to show me. the same dealer owns three locations and had one 2210 between them and it was at another location. It was a different story when I attended a lawn and garden open house. they served cookies, popcorn, hotdogs, coffee and soda with all their lawn and garden tractors lined up and the sales reps were eager to answer questions. And there on the near end by the cookies was my baby, the dream tractor I eventually purchased. I suspect that on my earlier visit perhaps the reps were busy after bigger fish; the $100k+ ag fish. and perhaps the Ag reps are different people than the L&G reps.
