Ok, so I am doing my research and according to NH TZ25DA booklet the rotary mower recommended is a 48" with a Category II driveline. I have found a good deal on a 48" mower with the correct hitch category, but with a driveline category III. What is the difference between the categories?

TIA

By drive line are you talking about the PTO shaft? Cat II to Cat III 3 point hitch is higher horse power tractors and larger hitch pins. PTO shaft I have no idea.

Well, I am not sure. Here is copy of specs. for mower that is recommended for my TZ25DA:
Hitch category: I
Cutting width: 48
Driveline category: II
Gear box rating: 30
Drive requiremt: 540 rpm PTO

Sorry for being so  but I am a girl with limited understanding of all the mechanical info.

Hope this helps. The one mower I found has all these specs., but driveline category III. Hence, my question.

Thanks for your help. :)

Cat 3 shaft has a high horsepower rating. It will work fine.

Typically when referring to cat I, II, III etc on d-lines designates it as a metric d-line (bondioli, pavesi, etc). The cat can normally be figured out by measuring the bearing cap diameter. cat I is 7/8, cat II is 15/16, cat III is 1 1/16, and so forth (or the metric equivelent). These will mostly be the tri lobe style d-lines, while the oval metric d-lines are an altogether different cat designation. On the sae square style d-lines they are cat 6, 12, 14, etc. cat 6 is 31/32, cat 12 is 1 1/16, cat 14 is 1 1/8 and so forth. Like the previous post the higher the # the larger the bearing cross so cat III is just fine for the application.
