Tractor
Kubota L3300, m5700, case 580se
Looks like both are built on same chassis and have same engine. The 6040 has about 64hp and m7040 about 71hp. Anyone know the difference is that adds the extra few hp?
Setting on injection pump or slightly larger injectors?

I suspect there are other differences like injection timing, fuel amounts metered electronically and controlled by the microprocessor chips. Those are the differences between my MF 2660 and the 2670 and 2680. Appears at first glance to only be HP. Same block, same model engine. However, the 2650 and 2660 share a slightly shorter frame while the longer framed 2670 snd 80 also have features like external hyd cyl for 3pt lift, etc. You may have those kinds of differences between 6040 and 7040, I don't know.

Check the Hyd pump flows, or power steering flows… one machine may be more/less than the other? The 8 speed vs 12 speed transmission may change that also…..

Also keep in mind that no two tractors will pto dyno the same either. What a manufacturer says it has and what it really has are usually 2 different things

Wouldn't a 2008 be all mechanical injection system?

7040 has limited slip ft differential, 6040 does not. same engine setup, different tuning

Sure about that. All the Kubota's I've seen have at least locking rear differentials, not limited slip. Mine have both front and rear lockers.

7040 on up to 9540 all have limited slip ft differential. all of them of course have locking rear

I might add I use both mine to farm with (which is why I have them in the first place) and not something much smaller but, I hardly ever use the front wheel assist anyway. Only reason I have it is resale value. For me, it's nothing but accelerated tire wear and more parts to wear out.

I believe last time I actually used it was last fall, pulling stumps.

we'll see what surfaces mr thin skin... btw the M9000 is a great tractor, one of the best pre tier 4 till the Mxx40's came along
best of luck in your hay season & best regards

Just did my homework and big bubba is indeed right. From M7040 to the M9540, all had front LSD. The M6040 did not.

All it took me was like 5 min on parts diagrams for all those models, instead of accusing someone from being FOS on a tractor forum. Imagine that...

They are ok. Have some issues, mainly weak pto brakes. Of course Kubota had an update but mine are way past that so when I use any implement that don't have a freewheeling driveline, I put a over running clutch on the pto stub. Suire as heck not paying for a split to update either one. The free wheeling clutch was a lot less expensive.

You could be right and I'm, giving you a hard time. it's my age I guess.

The new ones are a lot different than my older ones but I don't have to deal with the T4 junk either.

Do the new ones come with 540-1000 pto? Both mine are dual speed but you have to exchange stub shafts.

Just looked at an M125 old style. Nice unit and big but no loader.

Just poking, nothing more. I get accused of all kinds of stuff, mostly by my wife.

At my stage in this life cycle, the last thing to cross my mind would be trading them in. At some point in the future I may sell them outright along with everything else when I cannot farm anymore but trade on something else. Not gonna happen. Used, well cared for Pre 4 units, especially the bigger ones' are commanding premium prices and that won't change because there are a finite number of them and no more being produced.

I'm sure they will outlast me.
