Difference in welding helmets

The blue flame HF helmet I have is the one Steven says is the good one. It was available in the store.

I have that one as well. I like it.

Thank you for posting the part numbers. Never even dawned on me. Those numbers should save someone a few headaches. I wish I had known before I bought my second one. I really lucked out and got the good one the first time I bought.

When I took the other helmet back yesterday, I went through boxes to find a good one. When I found one, I noticed the different part number. They let me switch it out for the good one. It looked like they had 4 good ones, and maybe 40 bad ones on the shelf. With the exception of the part number, the boxes look the same.

Thanks for the responses guys. Steven, I did a little checking at Harbor Freight based on your pictures and looking at the manuals on their website. The one you indicate as bad is P/N 61610 and HF shows it on their website as only available in stores. The one you show as good is P/N 91214 and just shows add to cart, so not sure if it's sold in stores. Both are $49.99 and look identical to me on the outside. Just switches vs knob controls on the inside. I'll have to check and see if my local store has the "good" one. Thanks for that insight (pun intended). .......
