So I recently moved up to the SE region of PA and have a little over 3 acres, probably 2.5 of which is grass. I think I have decided on a BX series but have a couple questions. Mainly, what are the differences between the different tractors noted above? I know they are progressively newer models but what the pros/cons of each?

I haven't been to any dealers yet...seems like the all close early during the week and on Saturday but I would really prefer to buy used to save a little $$. Must have a FEL and 60" deck. If anybody out there is looking to sell...let me know. Thanks in advance

I gotta say this. You certainly will find some guys willing to take you up on selling you their BX. There are guys who have lost jobs, etc and will make you a deal. Also, there are guys who want/need to buy a different tractor as their needs have changed. Drive a hard bargain. The buyer with cash is KING!!!!!!!

Wow...thanks for all the responses. It appears that there are not a whole lot of differences between the different models. Most of the terrain I have is relatively flat with some small elevation changes. I also have about 250' of driveway to keep clean in the winter.

A used one would be great although new is always nice. Hopefully I'll be able to pick something up in the next 4-6 weeks.

BX2200 didn't come with cruise control. As an afterthought, they came up with a long mechanical link to a lever in the empty slot. I had my BX2200 retrofitted with it. I'm not sure when they started putting it on standard issue.

Didn't notice whether anyone mentioned the HST rocker treadle. Mine is 1 pc.; don't think I'd like the 2 separate pedals. I do like metal over plastic, but I don't plow salted driveways, which is 1 (some would say the only) good thing about plastic.

I maintain 5 acres with my BX. Gearmore is the only 40" heavy duty brush hog that I know of and it matches my BX well. I also can run a PHD, chipper, tiller, scraper-grader, RB, BB, just about anything. In the past couple of years, they have started making PTO generators sized right for a BX, though they cost almost as much as a generator for a bigger tractor.

The BX suspends an MMM, but I think (not positive) that a B series lowers the full weight to the MMM wheels and rollers?? (B owners-please advise here). If I could afford a B, I might consider one, just to do things a little faster. All in all, however, I am pleased with my BX.

Is there a reason you didn't include the BX2660 in your list of possibilities? Good luck with your searching. I think guys have as much fun shopping for tractors as our wives have shopping at the mall! :D

I'm definitely not opposed to the BX2660. If I found a good enough deal I would not hesitate but I feel the models I listed will perform sufficiently for my needs at a lower acquisition cost.

At some point the FEL arms were curved for a better view forward. Original FEL joystick stayed on the FEL, no option for it to be on the tractor.

At some point, wasn't the 3 pt hitch improved greatly in its "geometry" as in higher lift and such?

If I were looking for used with a loader the joy stick WOULD have to stay on tractor for sure.Adding a snow plow is easy if you have the control on the tractor, otherwise addinig a plow is a little costly.
