Will most manufacturers abandon the DPF for DOC?

As I understand it, DOC is only used in lower HP units due to lower emissions standards as defined by the EPA. At current levels DOC is not effective as a stand alone system in those higher HP engines. I had a DOC system in a NH Workmaster 50 that worked well while I had it. Kubota has elected to utilize a Regen system in their smaller HP diesels. No requirements are needed in 25 HP and under.

So to answer your question...
IMHO as long as the EPA keeps current standards as they are I think the emissions systems adopted by different manufacturers will stay as is.

Reason I say it is that Massey is coming out with new 1700 premium series tractors and they are switching to a shibaura engine and they are not using a DPF like they did on the previous engine. I should have specified 60 hp and under compacts.

Mahindra uses DOC in their tractors up to 75hp. That's one of their big selling points, the high pressure common rail engine and no DPF regens because they use DOC. DOC functions in a similar way to a catalytic converter with a gas engine. Above 75hp most if not all use DEF (diesel exhaust fluid).
