Is it me or is the pedal used for engaging diff lock kinda "mushy" or non-responsive?(not in terms of engaging, just general position of the pedal)

Is it supposed to feel like a gas pedal or just firm pressure? The operator guide says a spring is supposed to pop it back up when you let off and/or hit the brake. While I'm pretty sure diff lock is engaging properly when I keep my heel on it, I'm not sure its disengaging properly at times. It doesn't seem to travel very far at all down, yet I can lift it to the full 0 position manually.

I just wonder if I have a bad spring or if the pedal just behaves that way. At times it's clearly closer to the 1 than the 0 though it seems disengaged.

Don't know what tractor you have but my 4110's return spring is pretty light, I can barely detect much resistance in my foot when engaging it but it always returns OK. My "gas" pedal has much more resistance. The travel on mine is pretty good though, from it's fully up (disengaged) position to down and definitely engaged is several inches. On rare occasion it has stuck down (engaged) for just a bit but either hitting the brakes or changing gears with the shuttle has popped it back up - have never had to reach down and help it up.

Mine is like you are describing. It works. Just doesn't spring up fast or have much resistance.

I found a differential lock pedal adjustment I can do, just requires removing the rear left wheel. There is a rod that needs to be 178mm. My best test will be to stop by the dealer and check the behavior of other pedals.... if it ever stops raining. :tractor:

Keep us informed. I've had issues with mine and the "local dealer" split my tractor to fix it .... now it is acting up yet again.

Yeah, I went by the dealership, test drove another one and the pedal engaged and disengaged just like you'd expect. I tried mine out again today and basically figured out it's kinda tough to get it to engage in the first place and hardly noticeable when it disengages.

My 2615, basically the same tractor as a 2816, is hard to engage. Usually the tire has to turn a couple to several rotations before it actually engages.

Yep, exactly - I wonder if Mahindra might chime in on this, it's going to cost me quite a bit out of pocket to get a 2 week old tractor back to the dealer. I don't have a truck and trailer big enough to haul it back...it's why I bought new :/

Spoke with a service manager today and I think he may have given me a better understanding of what's going on with this pedal.

He said he looked at the cog for this and the slots are 180 degrees apart...meaning depending on where you are in the rotation when you start to apply pressure to the pedal will determine how soon or how long before it engages. You've basically got 2 spots in the 360 rotation. He also said that lightly tapping with the heel gave better results than constant pressure on the pedal (which I think I can confirm)

So I'll test it again soon but as long it engages and disengages when I need it to (taking into consideration what I know now about how it works) I feel better about the whole thing. It may be a significantly different feel on my tractor versus the one still on the lot, but at least I know it's just different, not malfunctioning.

...and I didn't know what "splitting" a tractor meant until today, and I don't think I'm ready to do that just yet to a 3 week old tractor. :)

Thanks for the update. I will try the tapping method.
