Would you buy a new tractor if it did not have differential lock? Some new tractors coming out do not have differential lock! This of couse makes them about $500.00 less.

What models are we talking about?

For me in an ag tractor, no I would not. A CUT or SCUT I don't see that it would make much difference. I don't think mine on my 1433v has ever been engaged. On my bigger tractors it useful in some situations,

I don't think so. Only been two times I've been up close when a tractor was pulling or pushing something stubborn. Both times the job was accomplished because of a locking differential. Gobs of torque and lots of mechanical advantage aren't worth much if there isn't enough traction.

No, I would not. Traction is key, and the more the merrier.

Is a diff lock standard on the 1500 series? ( 1523??)

I don't think I would.
Which tractors are being made without them?

I have a GC & it only has 7 hours on it. I've used the diff lock a half dozen times. It's been engaged when I was plowing snow. Granted traction sucks with such little turfs without ballast and / or chains.

One of the main reasons I bought the GC2300 was the 4WD and rear diff lock. I need it and have to have it otherwise a tractor is useless to me. I used mine several times yesterday blowing snow, but I also use it on the steep slopes around here all year long whenever I loose traction. It's a must have for me.

Now that I've used the diff lock, I'll never own another tractor without it, of course at 64 I probably have all the tractors I'll ever own.

I use the diff lock on my 2310 on a regular basis. It would be tough if it didn't have a lock. Even if it had differential brakes I would still want to have the lock. Still on my list to add, differential brakes to my 2310.

Like the others have said, it's a pretty useful feature on a CUT. I use it all the time when moving snow. Sometimes when moving dirt and quite a bit back when I disced my entire property. It's just another way to get traction to the ground.
