Differential not engaging

My Iseki TL2100F has a differential lock that is behind my right foot. I step on it to engage the differential. Lately I have to stomp it several times to get it to engage. Is there any adjustment for this?
By the way, been skidding out firewood with it, what a little power-house.

Although I don't have any experience with your make of tractor I'm pretty sure that the mechanisms are similar. The differential lock requires a positive engagement of some sort of pin with a keyway, or mating parts which slide together to make both rear wheels turn together. Mine won't immediately engage either. When you need the differential lock, give it a light but steady pressure, and you should feel the parts mate together after the slipping wheel outruns the other. Probably will be 1/2 revolution, or 1/4 revolution slip before engagement.

Had a P.S. thought. If the differential lock is noticeably different than you are used to, it could be bent within the pivot point, or has some internal wear on the actuator. I found with mine though that a little patience works like a charm.

If it's patience it needs, that's probobly the problem. I tend to be tad lacking in the patience and "take it easy" department when it comes to equipment.
Generally I want it to do it, and do it now!
I have learned to slow down and use a lower gear over the years, though, a lot less fixing, and a lot less sore butt besides. I must say I bought a nice padded seat last year, but am looking forward to a suspension seat that St. Nick is expected to deliver this December!

I had a question and thought I would do a quick search first, so I dredged up this old thread.

I test drove a Bolens G274 with a loader and homemade cab last winter (I wish I would have scooped that one up!) The lot was pretty icy so I tried out the 4wd and the differential lock and I seem to remember when I engaged the differential lock it went down to the floor quite easily, and would disengage when I put in the clutch. Fast forward to now and I have a Bolens G274 without a loader or homemade cab, but when I engage the differential lock it seems to engage but the petal doesn't go all the way down to the floor and seems kind of sticky.

How much travel does everybody have in their differential lock petal?

Mine seems to Engage about 1 inch off of the Floor , Probally 2-1/2 inch off the floor before engaged . I Hope thats what You Meant.

Mine engages at 1 point of rotation of the back wheels only. That means if you press the pedal just over this spot it takes little less than 1 turn before the lock is engaged.

Releasing the pedal the diff stays locked till forces are reduced (normal traction is back) and the mechanism can release.

In very loose ground (mud etc) the mechanism will disengage immediately as almost no torque is transferred as wheels are slipping. So you'll have to keep pressure on the pedal all the time to keep it locked.

That is all normal behaviour for this mechanism.

OP, if you can engage with normal pressure on the pedal within 1 rotation of the back wheel you are ok.

Stomping makes no sense. You have to apply pressure till it catches. Momentarily stomping it leaves you to having luck you do it at the exact point where the mechanism can engage. That is 1 out of 360 degrees...

When applying pressure the pedal will stay halfway down above the floor, when the mechanism engages it will go down to almost floor level.
